+1. I thought Daphne and the rest of them were very well cast EXCEPT for Eloise. I found her to be so distracting because she did not seem like the younger sister. As PP said, she looked and sounded like a middle aged smoker. For me, the story came to a screeching halt evey time she was on screen.

Just finished watching. Meh.

It was gorgeous to look at. I guessed who Lady W was early and accurately so that was a bummer. Loved the diverse cast - none of these roles require a specific skin color. I read historical fiction but not romance so I knew it might jot be my cup of tea. I just found all of Simon and Daphne’s conflict kind of foolish instead of compelling. Oh no we love each other hut are being “forced” to marry because of prudish more of the era. So what? And the sex scene on the marble staircase, in a house with probably a dozen beds? I didn’t hate it like some PPs have but also didn’t go nuts for it.

I love the show but it has nothing to do with the color of anyone’s skin. The actors are phenomenal and attractive and sexy and the story is captivating.

Tell that to the posters who are claiming the diversity was distracting.

I gave it a try but Daphne is insufferable. I had to quit the show.

What was wrong was her assumption that her family was better off than Marina's, because she didn't know her husband had gambled away their fortune. But that doesn't mean Marina was loaded. She could be reasonably well-off, with an okay but not great dowry, as minor country gentry would be.

You are correct, PP. We learn Lady F is actually destitute due to husband’s gambling but Marina’s dowry (or lack thereof)remains the same.
