I wonder if her visit to South Africa was an attempt to escape, but she was unsuccessful in negotiating any contact with the kids. Albert convinced her to return and now she has vanished supposedly to some rehab facility. There’s just something so very off about this situation. I think Charlene is a victim somehow and suspect there’s much to this story we don’t know.
Did they also force her to get that god awful, shaved hair thing a couple years ago?
European NP here. This will be my last post in this thread because I have become bored. But this is the sort of thing I am talking about. She got that crazy-looking haircut purely to embarrass her husband and his family. That sort of spite will not be tolerated nor should it be. Countless women and men before her have played their parts and she is not special. No one in Monaco and respectable European circles has any sympathy at all for this arrogant woman.
Do you know her?

You are too fanciful. She was not physically forced. She learned on the eve of the wedding that Nicole Coste was sharing Prince Albert’s quarters AND the Prince was facing another paternity dispute. She was humiliated and angry, but went through with the wedding once it was made clear to her that she would be stripped of all gifts the Prince had given her and she would be cut off. No friend of the family, Fergie-and-Andrew deal for a woman who jilts the prince on the eve of the wedding. She is not a victim. Filthy lucre is what lured her and now, she is eternally wrathful that filthy lucre is all she got.

You’re probably talking about me. I’m of European extraction and my father is a diplomat. Both of those facts make me a lot more familiar with the workings of Western European royal families than most Americans are. I am neither for or against Nicole Coste. Simply stating well known facts. She is the apple of Albert’s eye and between increasingly liberalizing racial attitudes, Charles elevating Camilla, Charlene being a public relations nightmare, and Nicole
having charmed nearly everyone in Monaco, there’s a very good chance Albert might elevate her in the next 10 years. I am sorry if that bothers you.
So Charlene didn't want to marry him but did it for the financial benefits to her family, plus maybe a bit of delusion/optimism that he would keep it in his pants after marriage, and that didn't work out. Meanwhile, Nicole Coste still appeals to Albert and she doesn't object when he sleeps around, suggesting that she understands the rules for this gig better than Charlene.
Is that about it?

Now that I am reading about Nicole Coste and son (thanks for the links), it’s all making sense. It seems like Charlene hoped she could avoid this, like this day would never come. Instead it was like running head first into a brick wall. Nicole has the son, the history, the personality, the charm. Charlene looks like she is constantly under lock, key and duress. I do not know how she can free herself. It’s almost like the best person to ask for advice is Nicole, and she burned that bridge. One poorly calculated move, and here we are.

I doubt the kids care very much that the woman who has been at their father’s side their entire lives is now officially displacing a mother they hardly ever see.
Women only care for their own children. Depend upon it that if there was a button Nicole could press to make Charlene's children die a painful death and have her son named as a legitimate heir, she'd do it yesterday.
It must burn her to see that Charlene's children are princes and hers isn't.
What in the world are you on about? I wrote that Charlene’s children don’t know Charlene so they have no reason to care about her marital woes with their father. Nothing is changing in their world. Nicole is the one their father has always spent his time with.
How did he find time to sleep and breed with others? I believe he's fighting yet ANOTHER paternity suit, this devoted gentleman.

Welp, as I said, unhinged.

I doubt she cares - if this follows through - she'll be in a much better position that Camilla. Better looking, younger, the 'Queen' to Albert's 'Prince' and on top of that - they share a child who is already treated well and elevated. If they marry, Albert could legitimize and title the kid and no one would blink. (Note - the kid will never be heir and that's fine. He's got a billionaire royal dad who loves him and adores his mother)
You have a very active fantasy life.
He adored his mother so much he kept sleeping and making babies with other women.
NP. You sound more than a little bit stupid. Producing heirs that racist Monegasque institutions could accept was nothing more than a business transaction. Fulfilling the condition of being king. It had nothing to do with love — as Charlene has found out.
First, Albert IS the Monegasque institution.
Second, Monaco doesn't have kings. Albert is already a prince and all he had to do to get this title was to survive labor and delivery.
