The virtue of a big county and big school system is to be able to spread things around a bit for the greater good. FCC formed because of its desire to avoid black people and they pretty well have succeeded.

His party relies heavily on URM votes. Do you really think he'll support the lilly white rich enclave abandoning Fairfax County resulting in funding cuts for poorer schools?
Who knows who has his ear? He probably cares what happens with Tysons. It’s going to hurt the state if there’s an ongoing battle with those living north of Tysons complaining that the local schools are underfunded and that they are being held hostage by others in the county who just want their money. For sure it won’t help attract business to the region.
Other than a couple on this thread, there isn't anyone saying that and there isn't an "ongoing" battle.
How can the local schools of Langley and McLean be underfunded when Langley was just renovated? These McLean people sound nutty.
Langley was built in 1965 and never had a renovation. It patiently waited its turn and finally received a much-needed reno. It didn’t receive any special treatment, if that’s what you’re implying. McLean is grossly overcrowded and the SB has known this for years. They desperately need an addition, but there is nothing in the works - even after years of discussion. I imagine you’d be pissed off if you had to send your kids to an overcrowded school while watching other schools (W.Potomac) get expansions they don’t even need.

Citizen of Great Falls. Sounds good to me too can I come? !

I don't live in McLean, but honestly I don't blame folks there for wanting to incorporate. This school system is too big and needs to be broken up. It isn't responsive to the community and it's just broken. It was bad before but the pandemic has really highlighted what a terrible situation this is for many in the county.
It’s entirely about FCPS and their disgraceful mismanagement.
No, it's not. It's about other issues.
No, it’s not. If FCPS was doing their job, we wouldn’t be having this discussion.
Zoning. It's about zoning. That's not FCPS.
What are you talking about? FCPS as a whole has fallen off the cliff with its “equity” nonsense, and from this all things have followed. The school system is coasting on its once excellent reputation. The last decade or so has made it abundantly clear how absurd things have become. Zoning may be a part of this, but mainly it’s insanely bad planning and choices on the part of FCPS. Period.
No, it's about zoning. Sorry.

That guy was nuts. He's all over message boards saying how great the current school board is doing.
