Why has it taken 33 pages for race to be stated plainly? Let’s just get the facts out there and have the debate about racial dynamic. This would include a conversation about the decision to charge as adults. 33 pages ago when everyone heard Damascus and assumed white redneck Trumpster farm boys, no one had any issues discussing race. When that turned out to be false, then all the dancing around the racial dynamics started.
At least 3 of the 4 names seemed to be of African American descent.

OK - We get that. We know about the statistics and blah blah blah.
But these kids - African Americans, as you shared above - raped their peers. Should they, b/c of their race, be given a lighter sentence?
Are you saying that there may be others - white students - who, despite being guilty, escaped sentencing? And if that's your point, where's your support?
Or, are you hinting at the greater context b/c close to 70% of professional football players are black? Why is that? And there are what? two team owners who aren't white?
Maybe we look at who's profiting off whom instead. Is that you're point? b/c I think you're talking about two different things

Minors can be charged as adults for murder, or gang rape, because those are outrageous acts that are unfathomable in every normal person's head pretty much from elementary school. Children are taught not to hurt any living creature, not to mention other humans. It is a taboo that should be internalized by minors well before they even try to figure out how to parallel park or sign a lease. If you are religious, you'd know those rules as commandments, but even if you are not, it's just something that goes without saying.
And yes, I believe, there is a "bright line somewhere for age" for minors committing serious crimes. In certain states, it is 13.
Exactly. We teach toddlers that it's not okay to hit or pinch. We teach children that no one can touch you or your private parts without consent.
Do people really think that a violent assault of holding someone down and shoving a broom up a person's anus doesn't fall into any of the categories above that even the littlest of children know, or that somehow 15 year olds get amnesia about how to reasonably treat other human beings?? This was a horrific crime and deserves to be treated as such by the criminal justice system.
If the defendants were white and treated as juveniles, I imagine that most of us would be discussing white privilege. This is an adult crime and deserves to be treated as such. Letting men off easy for rape perpetuates rape culture.

Perhaps in prison they will get the therapy necessary to at least make them realize what they've done is sick and twisted. but full rehab? never going to happen.
It's groupthink in the worst way. And it's the twisted parents and obsessed community members who define themselves by how many wins they have.

If you check the cases in the Judiciary Case Search it lists races of defendants.

The police have not released photos of the suspects who were charged.
Their names were released with the exception of one. Out of the 4 listed one was AA. If you have access to MCPS you can see their picture from the roster. Also, one of the players was listed on the varsity roster. Could be a glitch on the roster but....

Agreed. But there really isn’t anything good to do with them. The state juvenile justice system is a joke. This is a tragedy all the way around.
