Why would the head of the CFPB be shutting down the government? Isn’t he spending his time deregulating predatory lenders?

He’s doing a bang up job of ensuring he has neither work to do at OMB nor work to do at CFPB by effectively shutting them both down. Mulvacation!

McConnell delayed the vote by 24 hours so that he could bring everything to the wire. It could have been voted on last night. Democrats asked for a vote. McConnell adjourned and didn't schedule the vote until 10 tonight. He wasted 24 hours pulling a stunt. The problem with month long CRs is that nobody negotiates until right before and then boom, the deadline is there and there's no agreement so they have to have yet another CR. That's why the Republicans have had 4 CRs since October.
