Hi ladies,
I'm embarrassed to say I have been following the October moms thread since the very first post way back in February, and this is the first time I've actually contributed! I'm 21 weeks along, first-time mom, live in Northern VA. I've really enjoyed keeping up with everyone's progress and sorry I haven't shared till now. I also went through several fertility treatments to achieve this pregnancy so I was super-anxious about sharing the news with anyone and letting myself believe it's "real." I could have written the post jindc wrote a few weeks ago about being afraid to "jinx" things. But I think that fear has kept me from really enjoying this amazing time.

Anyway, I so wish I could join everyone tomorrow, but alas, I'm working all night tonight and probably won't get much rest before tomorrow morning If I can rally maybe I'll try to stop by! I'd also like to join the yahoo group; thanks for setting that up. Have fun tomorrow and happy long weekend to all!

Pumpkin again, I had to go to the page and approve you. You should be in now! I'll check for new members regularly for the first few days until we're all accounted for, then I'll make sure I'm checking at least a few times a week in case anyone notices late.

Okay, pumpkin here, I didn't get any notifications so I may have done something wrong. Let me try and see if I did something wrong or maybe I just need to actually go to the page to check.

LJ, I'm so glad to hear your good news--thanks for the update! I hope you get some much needed relaxation in this weekend. :^)

Pumpkin, thanks for setting up the yahoo group! I just joined, or tried to. It seemed to go through all right, says membership is pending. I signed up with my gmail account without problems; it's also worked fine for other yahoo groups I'm in.

TLC, I've had similar issues with other groups. Maybe if you try again it'll work this time? Oh, technology.

Speaking of, I'm completely FB-inept, or I would be glad to set up a group there. I'll be glad to join when/if we get one of those. I'm on it, but seriously can barely access the messages on there...

When I did my profile I wrote a 3 -4 word intro....I tried to do more but I kept getting a message saying I was limited to 200 characters. I kept taking more and more out but it wouldn't accept it for some reason.

You should be able to sign up with any email address. It may prompt you to create a yahoo profile, but that's for the group, not for a yahoo email account.

Hey everyone! I've really enjoyed reading updates this week. This is Pumpkin. I just wrote a post responding to everyone's recent updates but, after upgrading to a new OS that handles multiple web pages differently than I'm used to, I accidentally closed all web pages and not just the one I thought I was on, and vaporized my own post. Oops. So instead of trying to recreate my message, I set up a yahoogroup for us. (Of course, I have never done this before and ended up setting up a yahoogroup in the UK...but second time was the charm...) Anyway, we now have a new home at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DMVFallBabies/

I originally used October moms, but couldn't figure out how to change the UK setting without scrapping the whole page so I just started over. On the bright side, the name will fit us even if those of us with early Oct dates go a few days early (but not TOO early...hear that babies?!!!) or late Oct dates go late (but not TOO late!) we're covered.

So, if you want in, please send a message to DMVFallBabies-subscribe@yahoogroups.com and include your nickname from the message boards and, if you're a newer member or someone who hasn't posted since earlier on, a note or two about who you are. I've kept it on "approve new members" so we can keep it to those of us who have been corresponding - and if this thread lives on, we can add any new folks as we connect with them. (Also, I'm okay if our friends from other fall months (Turkey and Critter aka the November "interlopers" and Lola from September...are there others?) join if they want, unless feels strongly it should just be Oct?).

I will leave it to so someone else to handle the facebook page...I've had enough tech problems today to take my chances there!

LJ - I looked back on the board & read what you had been going through regarding your test results. I can't imagine how nerve wracking that must have been, so glad to hear you've gotten better news finally!

LJ here. I would definitely be into a more private group.

Just wanted to post a super quick update - FINALLY got the call back from the genetic counselor today. 1/800 chance of DS, other trisomy risks at levels like 1/20,000 and 1/50,000.

I will take 1/800 risk of DS over 1/128 any day. I am very relieved to get this news. Still slightly annoyed that the past two weeks of worry for nothing, but mostly just profoundly grateful to have better news. I know nothing is guaranteed but this still helps me feel a lot better.

Hi! This is 11:30 - wanted to introduce myself properly. I have an eleven year old daughter & am expecting my first son on 10/3/13. I've been married since December 2012 (daughter is from a previous relationship) and we experienced a miscarriage the last week of December & then got pregnant again the second week of January. So things have definitely moved quickly! I look forward to getting to know everyone!
