The recently published county-wide construction plan (available here: http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/press/index.aspx?page=showrelease&id=3424) projects completion of the new middle school in August 2017.

It also delays (other than the addition for which work has already begun) completion of the major revitalization of Rosemary Hills until 2022.

The main site was Grace, but it was (i) too small and (ii) would have cost a fortune to acquire. Ultimately too small as well.

Thanks - I had read that thread at one point but haven't kept fully current. I will look through it. Just to be clear, it doesn't matter to me whether the current policy is continued of permitting COSA's from Spanish immersion to BCC, as I'd probably have her attend my own cluster's HS before BCC. I was just concerned about where the MS Spanish immersion that matriculates from RCF would be housed in the future and if there'd be a geographic change (or separation from the other non-immersion students at RCF when they got to the middle school level).

NP - I'm exploring entering the lottery to send my DD to the full Spanish immersion program at RCF in a year when she enters K, and I see going through the archives that several years ago Wheat made a comment about possibly relocating the MS matriculation from Westland to SSIMS due to overcrowding at Westland. Does the building of BCC MS 2 mean that that issue is off the table?

I'm coming from North Potomac / Rockville, so I don't want to commit to 9 years of something difficult but tolerable from a commuting standpoint, only to have a change for the last 3 years that would be pretty tough for me and her given beltway traffic, etc. (And I'm not sure if doing immersion K-5 and stopping would make sense.)

Thanks in advance for any info on this.

That is confidential so I won't say. I will say that they were in every case that I can remember either too small, or if large enough, not available for sale. Think about any of the large swaths of private land in the cluster that come to mind and you can probably figure some of them out, but I will neither confirm or deny that they were on the list. Yes, in theory the government can take part of someone's property due to eminent domain, but if that acquisition is tied up in the courts for years, how does that serve the students of these schools which are overcrowded now?

Well, it was not corrupt, but it certainly was not thorough. I don't live in RCH and I am not the previous poster, but I don't believe that the decision was the best one. Many others did not, but the MCPS had a voting block of 9 ( if I recall) which readily tipped the vote in any direction they chose.

I was not on the committee but I did attend every single meeting, and honestly don't feel that a thorough job was done. I am sorry and certainly don't mean to offend your effort, but it is just the truth, most places were given a perfunctory review.

I don't think you were on the site selection committee. I was. Again, as I've said for like the fifth time in this thread, just because the second committee came up with a solution you don't like, DOES NOT MEAN that it was corrupt, rigged, exclusive, a "hornet's nest" or any other bullshit you want to spew. RCH was the first choice, NCC was the second choice, and unless a sinkhole opens up and swallows RCH Park, leaving a hole all the way to the earth's mantle, that will be the site. The litigation is going nowhere.
