My son stopped after 6th grade. Very few go in higher grades. Your son is right -- no one (with whom he is friends) will be doing it. A few stray boys do it, but not enough to make it the thing to do.

I, for one, think it's a great trend. I'm just curious why some publics seem more represented than others.

Which school? Did Capital Cotillion send invitations to everyone at that school. I know they do that at places like Beauvoir.

In 2005 Michele Pollard Patrick and Kristine Miller McGehee assumed sponsorship and have expanded the program and its offerings. The philosophy of Capital Cotillion is that every child should have the opportunity to learn the social skills that will enable them to become responsible and considerate adults. Therefore; there is no application or screening process. We are open to all.

As far as not getting an invite the next year, I don't think there is any black listing, they may not think to send you an invite again ( postage is expensive) but I can't imagine them saying no to your enrolling your child if you contact them and there is a space. Because it is so open minded and the kids actually enjoy Capital Cotillion the classes do get filled so it is important to sign up quickly. As far as the family that couldn't afford it I think at one point they offered aid to those that couldn't afford it but i just looke don the web site and did not see it mentioned. I may have seenit in the invitation.

My son and all his buddies go and they really enjoy it, who would have thought the boys would like it so much!

Does anyone have a child who has attended the "Dining Etiquette" class sponsored by the Capital Cotillion group? Is it worth worthwhile?
