Didn’t WashU tell people not to submit anything below 1500? So 1510 is on the low end of reported scores. It’s also low for a grade deflated elite private.

Maybe 1500 is sort of a cut-off and they made the cut-off and it was everything else? This kid must have qualified or else they would have been rejected and not WL'd.

I've heard from multiple AOs that acceptance from WL is all about demographics and majors and special cases (i.e. full pay, legacy), but never heard anyone say that gpa or scores help a kid get off the WL.

They do it in batches/waves. It’s closed in certain regions (apparently Midwest/California are done). Some are still under evaluation. There will be a few more waves.

Is this a weekly thing for students on the Harvard WL or are they fast turnarounds like 48 hours?

I think it goes over the next month. I was wrong. It’s the south end Midwest that people are saying are closed.

From my DC that went to MIT's accepted students days, there were a lot of kids who also got into Harvard, Stanford and MIT.

At our private someone chose Wharton over Harvard and Princeton over Harvard.

Also it moved this week at our non-DMV private.

Significant changes could be coming to both Harvard and Yale, and it makes one wonder if students would have picked differently had they known of possible shifts in mission and grading policies. Ironically, it might be that Yale would have the most "draconian" grading policy of all the schools.

MIT/Stanford/Princeton seem like more known entities in terms of their policies this year. Princeton has made some changes related to video recording in the last 6 months, and the proctor policies didn't really matter to DD. She had picked Yale over Princeton and probably would still pick Yale even with all the potential changes, but I wonder if others would at least ponder if they were given multiple choices to choose from especially between the HYPSM with some of the unknowns.

My kid is still in waitlist with much higher GPA and very high SAT and good ECs. Applied for premed
