What makes you think they didnt get a formal offer recently?Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:If it's a verbal offer in the Fall, who's taking that as a real sign of commitment? A real commitment comes with $ or a formal roster spot. Coaches and families break commitments all the time, so not sure why anyone would be surprised by early verbal offers for the top players. Similarly, I don't see why a family couldn't "accept" a verbal and then go see if they can do better. I imagine coaches look at it the same way - try to lock someone down with a verbal and then fill in the hole if you lose one of our your good players. Of course, some coaches keep to their word better than others, so it depends on how much you can trust a coach and a verbal.
The problem is if the family gives their verbal but then looks/commits elsewhere. I would imagine there is a large intersection of coaches who offer in November are the same coaches who will be vindictive. This is especially problematic for kids that aren't the top 1-2 kids. They cannot afford to burn any bridges and these coaches are preying on that fear.
Maybe MYS u13 isn’t that locked in even with the early offers. Sounds like overzealous pressure tactics from the club

But not all of their best girls committed.
Nice try but not my kid. A bad look is a club trying to lock kids in during the Fall season for a team that won’t play until almost a year later. They are using fomo against you and you’re trying to use that as a reason for why others should make rushed decisions without complete information.
Asking families to commit in November for the following year is a sh*tty thing to do especially for rising u13 kids. But I wouldn’t expect any less from that clown of a coach.

Thats the entire system. I dont get how it’s come to this and my hope is US Soccer starts to fix it. They are basically making the season 5 months that matter. Maybe the older ages benefit from early tryouts but I cannot see why anything needs to occur prior to April for any level.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Ok, so your kid is the one who hasn’t yet, but most others have. SYC is the only club that’s actually held ID sessions so far?
Correct—let’s go back to 2014. I believe McLean held their ID process during one of their practices, or they were already hosting many of those girls in some capacity, though I’m not sure exactly how.
