In retrospect, I think she was a pretty screwed up girl. The guy was kind of an ass to women, but he was a lot of fun to hang out with if you were one of his male friends. Once, when he won big on sports bets, he flew me and another guy out with him to Vegas for the weekend.

I am so stressed out by work that I now have IBS. I don’t exercise because I’m depressed. Work is all consumingly stressful. I have textbook general anxiety and am completely untreated. I hide all of this.

Actually I had a very, very similar experience myself. Almost same ages and circumstances. I initiated the trysts myself, he merely obliged. I’d had such horrible first sexual experiences with two prior boyfriends that I was on the verge of having an anxiety disorder over it. One of my father’s friends had a reputation as quite a lady’s man, and I approached him and explained my predicament and asked him to help me. I remember asking something to the effect of “can you please show me what GOOD sex is supposed to be like?” or something equally dorky sounding.
He was hesitant at first but I was very insistent and eventually he relented. We had several encounters over a few weeks and he rocked my world every time. Now I not only had a benchmark of what a good lover was like, but I also discovered what I enjoyed, w how to ask for it and enjoy it. Looking back, it was probably one of the smartest things I ever did. I’m sure he enjoyed himself as well, although I’d guess he didn’t get nearly as much out of it as I did.
Tell me there was abuse in your childhood without telling me...
