Uh, you could have just spent more time in most of DC and come to the same conclusion. It’s full of fat, tattooed slobs who think some random bling makes them look better - and many of them would rob you blind or kill you in an instant if they thought they could get away with it.

I was in downtown Cincinnati for work (stayed at the Marriott right over the bridge in Covington KY) and didn't have particularly high expectations but I enjoyed my time there. Had some great meals and the baseball stadium is awesome.

Lowell, MA. My parents wanted to go there when we took a trip to Boston. This was in the late 80's. It was dreary and ugly and I cried every day we were there. Maybe it's changed but the old mills were depressing back then.

I think the NY side of Niagara Falls trumps both, mainly because it is the frigging gateway to US - so so so damn depressing. DS, who was 13 at the time, and I spent a night in Niagara, Canada on our way back from Midwest to upstate NY. We had a lovely dinner with a room overlooking the falls - gorgeous at night.

Got up the next morning and drove into the US. Even he noticed the jarring contrast, just how utterly bleak the cityscape was. We were listening to "1984" on tape. Sadly so fitting.

Crestwood. Nothing interesting and all the people look like Fat Albert, George Costanza, or the ugly extras from a Tyler Perry movie.

Gallup, New Mexico. It's absolutely terrible. Fast food restaurants and dollar stores as far as the eye can see. Poverty, obesity, and not much else.

I’ve seen a lot and I don’t know!! Maybe Tulsa. Parts.
