Has FVU actually played a game?
Can I call myself a former FVU parent if my daughter played for Union?
Anyway the teams will be good, but not everyone on the roster will see the field or contribute to the wins.
Only the best players will get recruited/scholarship money.
The lesser starters and players good enough to make the actual FVU bench will go D3.
FVU is basically McLean renamed (yet again).

Which is weird given MYS players, coaches, and board members will be a minority of the club’s makeup.

I honest to gawd wondered why it felt like girls soccer seems to dominate every thread. Makes sense
after reading this board for some time, Im so SO grateful to have boys. I notice the difference on sidelines and bleachers too.

physically, emotionally, interests, injury, high school sports, academically, relationships, friendships, burn out, mental health...
U13/U14 - a third of them or more will leave ECNL soccer because of the demands of school, pressure to perform, and ability to time management. This becomes a job sophomore/Jr year for these teens - many losing the love of the game because of unrealistic goals (parents projecting and kids brainwashed by ECNL social media).
Many changes ahead. To focus and be so critical of these KIDS is so short sided. Parents of younger kids really have no idea what's ahead. Stick to soccer club politics, that's at least interesting and good drama. Let these kids develop into whoever they will be without grown adults scrutinizing their every game and abilities - it doesn't matter.
Good to know but I feel tricked. This was the message given to us as we approached u13. You mean to say it all doesn’t matter again?
I have senior player headed to college. She decided to attend a large college and play club soccer. Because college recruiting is brutal and only really successful for a handful. The trick is finding the right school, the right program, the right cost - because you will pay for college. There are no scholarships but for a handful. College prepares you up for life afterwards when you need a job and must support yourself. Soccer is an experience in college. - fun one, but still an experience. Real development appears at 15-17 years old in girls. Their peers catch up in growth. The biggest kid become average and that small kid - she goes 7 inches in a year. They get even stronger and bigger 18-22. Skill and commitment are flushed out. High school changes everything for some. Look for internal motivation of your player, not the external ones. That might be a better guide.

DB "in game coaching" was basically him rising up from his chair a few times to yell out " To who ?" after an errant pass that didn't connect. Then sit back down. High level.
You cannot judge coaches by what they do in game. If you did, you'd think UCLA should've fired that Wooden guy long ago.
If a coach is trying to yell out instructions all the time during a game, then that coach failed to do his or her job in training. Or they're just putting on a show for easily duped parents.
These kids need some amount of instruction. They just dont have the IQ to let them go out and figure it out.
DB is a nice guy and may turn out to be a decent coach. Time will tell, but this persona that he’s built up as an amazing coach is largely built on his ability to recruit athletes. Interested to see what he can do with older age groups next year with less relative athleticsm.
I don't think anyone ever said that DB is "nice". I suppose he is but it is definitely not the first word that comes to mind. You are successful at recruiting when you are a good coach. They go hand in hand.
No, you're successful at recruiting when people *think* you are a good coach.
Or when they at least think you're not a total douchebag.
First hand experience, DB is a good coach. My DD learned a TON from him. His leaving was a huge loss for McLean.
Under CW’s tutelage it seems DB did a good job with 9 year old athletic kids. That’s a far stretch from ECNL on his own next year. Guess we will see a year from now especially with the less already talented 2011’s.
Would this be considered casting judgment on young players?
2013 MYS girls are talented but it is by far the most athletic group of girls the club has ever had since 2007s. Many of the kids were from MYS Rec at U9
