Those criticizing Israel aren't being entirely objective and aren't calling the balls and strikes either. For example Israel's strikes around Beirut. The critics yell about how Israel is bombing residential areas, but conveniently leave out the fact that the bombings have been resulting in many secondary explosions (Hezbollah ammunition cooking off), even uncontrolled Hezbollah rockets flying off in random directions as a result of the bombing. Hezbollah has been attacking Israel for decades, and has massive stockpiles of weapons that they use, many of those weapons received from Iran. Those are in fact legitimate targets. It's Hezbollah's fault if nearby civilians get injured or killed, because even if Israel had not attacked, the same secondary explosions could have happened if there were an accidental fire. The weapons caches should never have been in civilian areas. This same thing repeated itself throughout Gaza as well. Yet nobody criticizing Israel ever seems to be able to bring themselves to admit facts like this.

I posted this in another thread, but I am posting it here. I think some pps need to reflect on their posts that are full of hate.

In recent posts, people need to be careful about blaming the victims. There are plenty of victims and aggressors in the recent Middle East conflicts.

That does not mean that most Palestinians and Lebanese are not victims and that Jews are or are not the victims; most are. Different sides of the conflict also deny the others their right to exist.

I hope that people can stop using history, especially ancient history, to justify their right to land and deny someone else the right to land. Who lived where during the ancient times has nothing to do with present-day territorial and religious conflicts. Who lived where 100 years ago is also not that relevant.

People in power use old imagined claims to enrage people and use regular people to fight for something that benefits those in power. Sadly, people fall for it and become enraged by righting some ancient wrong. This tactic is used in the Balkans, where Albanians declared themselves Illyrians to claim that all of the former Yugoslavia was theirs. Croats, Serbs, and Bosnians do the same. None of it is historically factual, and even if it was, it does not matter. Should all the Keltoi return to Central Europe and the Balkans? Should Austria annex Hungary, Croatia, and Slovenia? They definitely want to, but do they have the right to those lands? After all, those lands spend hundreds of years in the Habsburg Empire. Do Russians have the claim to Ukraine BCS Kyiv was the heart of Russia centuries ago?

The facts are that Israel existed since 1948. It was put "there" because Europe and the U.S. did not want to grant Jews land in Europe, which is what they wanted.

It is also true that Palestinians have lived on the land there for a long time and that they have the right to exist and live in peace and decency. It is also true that many Palestinians refuse to give up on the hope of expelling Israelis from the land.

People in power know how to use and abuse this hatred (from both sides) to stay in power.
When people believe that their very existence is in danger, they will resort to violence against their neighbors and even their kin.

People are pawns in their games, just like our pps here. They are pawns of the propaganda of one side or the other and keep hurling insults at each other.

Some people benefit from this insanity, and sadly, fanatics like some people here are unaware that they are pawns in their mind games, just like people on the ground are their victims.

When a young woman living in MD sends a letter smeared in blood to express her, well, I don't know what to call it.. hatred? of those that are not protesting against Israel, that person is not fighting for the cause she thinks she is fighting for. She is promoting further violence and fear and justifying the fear of the Jews and Israelis that their very existence is threatened. Flip the coin, and you are justifying a genuine fear that Palestinians and Lebanese are fighting for their lives.

Some people are helping victims of this humanitarian disaster and helping both sides without calling people evil if they disagree on who is right.
