One wonders whether he got an accommodation during the test or whether given his fairly old age those weren’t available back then.

It’s just likely a variation of the old political tactic of telling an “up by yer bootstraps” narrative—only with a look at my cringe inducing SAT score and marvel at my claimed inability to read a speech. Voters: great! We want that!

There is nothing normal about either Gavin Newsom or JD Vance. I personally don't think Newsom with his slick hair is going to play well in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, and the other battleground states that Democrats really need to win. California's budget is a mess. The state is unaffordable for the middle class and even the upper middle class. And they are leaving California. Newsom's Covid response was extreme, and meanwhile he was dining at the French Laundry. Progressive policies on crime have been a disaster in SF and LA. It goes on and on. And as Vance demonstrated in his debate with Walz, he can be very presentable when he wants to be and can come across as thoughtful, intelligent, and polite. He won't have the MAGA enthusiasm that Trump has, but if Democrats put up Newsom they will rally around him. As will a lot of independents who are scared of California progressives. Newsom is a very beatable candidate.

Trump's ratings will be in the gutter by 2028. This should be a massive wave election for Democrats. Unless they do something stupid like nominate Newsom, who I don't think can win Pennsylvania, Michigan etc. Just another rich, out of touch California social progressive who has no feel for kitchen table issues. Democrats have made this mistake before. Trump sucks, ergo we can nominate weak men like Biden because whatever. Or another unpopular California progressive like Harris. Democrats paid the price for their arrogance, which is why we have Trump. They should not make that mistake again. A strong candidate in 2028 will win everything for Democrats. Gavin Newsom is not that man.

Newsom will have no problem winning. People are tired of your endless propaganda. The right has lost all credibility. The only way the Dems lose is if Shapiro is on the ticket.

The Jew Jew this and the Israel Israel that is going to kill Democrats going forward. The hyper-fixation on Jews and Israel by progressives really destroys everything. Dumbasses. The vast majority of American voters don't give a damn about faraway conflicts. But this is the number one issue for progressives today - not access to healthcare, not income inequality, not climate change or the environment, not schools, not inflation or affordability, not the cost of housing. It's all Israel all the time with progressives.

And it's a big reason why Democrats lose. Single issue progressives are a nightmare for Democrats.

Lol. Progressives—simultaneously the reason democrats lose elections AND too small of a voting block to warrant giving any consideration in policy decisions. Gotta love it.

Also gotta love how low of an opinion PP has of their fellow Americans. Apparently, Americans are simply too dumb to care about more than one issue at a time AND too selfish for Israel's crimes against humanity to be a real concern the democrats have to address.

If you'd like to win the next election, maybe try listening to the people whose votes you'd like to win. If they tell you something is a deal breaker, maybe don't insult and dismiss them and still expect them to vote with you, and then proceed to blame everything bad on them, refusing to take even a single look in the GD mirror.

Democrats lose? Since 2000 we're have:
8 yrs GOP pres
8 years Dem pres
4 years GOP
4 years Dem
And now a year and 5 weeks into a GOP pres who can't run in 2028. In terms of presidential elections basically it's 4 to 3 and one of those elections required Sandra O'Connor wanting to retire.

Imagine what the Democratic Party could do if it didn’t spend so much time cleaning up Republican messes.

Not a single post supporting him here, and yet he leads nationwide polling for the nomination. Just name recognition or is this forum missing something?

Apparently when his parents divorced his mom was very strapped financially.

I've only known bits and pieces about him until the recent New Yorker article. I'm impressed by the effort he goes to (per the story, and I trust the New Yorker's fact checkers) regarding his dyslexia. After reading it I'm very interested in him as a candidate.

A bunch of skeletons in his closet.

This article is from 2018. Newsom has been disliked by many CA Democrats for years.
https://www.sacbee.com/news/local/news-columns-blogs/marcos-breton/article210409949.html#storylink=cpy

"In 2007 Newsom had an affair with his appointments secretary. And she wasn't just his secretary. She was married to one of his top political aides and best friend. After the affair became public, Newsom's lover somehow landed a $10,000 payout in public money from a fund intended for city employees with catastrophic and life-threatening illnesses...

But how do you sleep with the wife of your best friend? Where do your mind and soul go when you allow yourself to descend to such a dark place? But it gets better. Newsom told everyone he had a drinking problem. So his grievous betrayal became about substance abuse. He had a problem, right? The narrative became that Newsom was going to rehab. He let everyone believe that he was going into legitimate alcohol rehab. It was all part of the Newsom redemption tour.

And then suddenly, as reported by Hart last month, it turned out he didn't. He went to some encounter group meetings run by one of his enablers. But real legitimate alcohol rehab? Nope.

You can't be serious. This country elected DJT not once, but twice. You think the voters focus on issues like affairs? Those days are long over.

They haven’t provided evidence of Kamala’s summer job at McDonald’s.

You would think Dems would learn from Trump that wealth is not what Americans hate, it’s liars and frauds. Being genuine helps

Heck, I couldn’t provide you any evidence of my summer job forty years ago. That doesn’t mean I didn’t work at McBrides.

Newsom's parents divorced and his mother raised Gavin and his sister as a single mother working as a waitress and secretary. How was she a millionaire. Newsom's father had the money as an appellate judge. Newsom has spoken about how he lived in two different worlds going back and forth between his parents home. He attended university on partial scholarship.

Newsom was not some love child unacknowledged by his father. The mother received alimony and continued the same lifestyle post divorce. Newscum is a liar

Can't stand this guy. I happily voted for Hillary, agreeably voted for Biden, and joyfully voted for Kamala. If this guy is the Dem choice in '28 I will grudgingly give him my vote I suppose.
