There is no Oakton middle school, you mean Carson. Carson kids go to Oakton, Chantilly, South Lakes, and Westfield. I don't know of any other middle school that feeds to four (maybe soon 5) high schools.

Fox Mill has a lot of people who want the new HS. Meren is 100% ignoring that in favor of the people at SLHS worried about using Fox Mills test scores for SLHS.

Yeah, I was torn between SLHS and Western, but realized that there is a significant risk of moving to Hughes if we stay with SLHS and Meren stays in office.

Fox Mill parents should fight to move to Western.

+1

I’m glad she showed her cards at this timing—FMES families are finally paying attention, and it’s time to fight for Western and Carson before moving us to Hughes suddenly “makes sense.”

Right.

Based on this map

Carson split feeds to Oakton, South Lakes, and Westfield

Franklin split feeds into Chantilly, Oakton, and Westfield

Kilmer split feeds into Madison and Marshall

Thoreau split feeds into Madison, Marshall, and Oakton.

Poe splits to Annandale and Falls Church

Holmes splits to Annandale and Edison

Where was that posted?

Found it: https://www.fcps.edu/about-fcps/maps/2024-2026-boundary-review/community-meetings-phase-2-part-2-fall-2025

They're exploring options for Hagel Circle.

It’s extra hilarious that they didn’t even hold this meeting at Halley, where Hagel Circle attends now. Do those families even have any idea that they’re slated to move?

Come on.

You jnow those poor Hagel Circle kids should never have been bussed 4 elementary schools away, crossing I95, all the way to Halley.

Are you aware that they are passed pass the same I95 crossing to get to south county middle and high school… why is this not an issue?

If you can't see or understand the different needs, abilities and stamina between a 6 year old and a teenager, I don't know if anyone can answer your question.

Carson also has a bunch of kids who transfer from Franklin for AAP (because Carson is the center) and then go to Chantilly.

And they send so many kids to TJHSST too.

Remember that scandal?

All it means is that she won’t push for it now but it is her plan if Fox Mill stays at SLHS. Any Fox Mill ES family that doesn’t want to move to Hughes will need to decide if they want to stay at Carson and push for Western HS or end up at Hughes and SLHS. They are not going to keep Fox Mill at Carson is Fox Mill is not at Western. They will get rid of part of the split feeder at Carson.

I live in Fox Mill and agree with your post. Will vote agaisnt her if Fox Mill is moved to Hughes.

Out of curiosity, it seems like most Fox mill families wanted to stay at south lakes. The only schools that aren’t at Hughes are Fox Mill and a small portion of Floris. Wouldn’t that make things easier for your kids if they want to Hughes vs Carson? It’s the same student body as SLHS.

Where did you get that idea?

Yes there are *some* Fox Mill families who want to stay. But many more families want to move. Fox Mill parents are not as vocal as Crossfield parents but if Meren keeps ignoring us, she will not get our votes.

That is NOT true.

We wanted to stay at Oakton which was our pyramid high school before 2010, and having been there 15 years, we can move again and we want to move and take Crossfield with us, because we used to feed to Oakton with them.

I miss doing Basketball with them too.

Not true. I know Fox Mill families that have already opted in, to include rising 10th graders.

Dp. I don't think that's true that most families at Fox Mill want to stay at South Lakes.
