Yes any rec kid can do Valor lite. The more kids, the higher profit, they just cram more kids on to the same field with one "coach".

No they are trying to roll out some Valor Lite thing for like $1500 where teams can enroll together and have a paid coach (I think?). We got an email about it but it was of course after most families had already signed up for full on travel. So seems like an effort to grab more money from people that would otherwise have just done rec.

I am a rec parent and my guess is that Valor Lite was offered because when Valor tried to recruit kids like mine, they heard a lot of parents say "no thank you, this is way too expensive and we are not interested in this huge commitment". My child was offered a spot on a travel team without trying out, we said no. Then we were invited to Valor Lite (I think all rec parents were), and again we said no. Not interested.

So what is diff of Valor Lite? It’s $1000 less and 1 less practice a week but with paid coach v parent volunteer?

The older the age groups, the fewer the divisions. Teams drop. So there is compression with the divisions.

The NCSL division structure is out for next fall.

https://www.ncsl-soccer.com/division-structure

For U15 Girls, Valor in Division 1 and 2. Did a lot of teams drop from last Spring’s Divisions 1 and 2 and not sign up again, because, example, seeing not only Valor move up from Division 3 to 2, but the teams ranked 6 and 7 out of 10 from last Spring’s Division 3 are also now in fall’s Division 2? Why is NCSL moving up teams that finished bottom half of their divisions?

How does one make money on registering for a league with not enough paying members on the team?

Anyone here have a U9 or U10 doing Valor Lite? A few girls left from our rec team for this and we declined to join.

They put both those teams into NCSL even though they only have around 8 kids per team. Yikes.

The soccer league landscape might change every year but one thing remains constant: Valor greed!

Our parent coach last year started practices in July and set up a couple of scrimmages before the season started. Even if all coaches aren't assigned (which i doubt) the Lead coach for each age group could easily run some optional practices. Instead they will focus on their team and everyone else gets treated as less than.

Some of the teams still don't have enough players LOL. Maybe they are still scrounging up players.
