Words matter. There was a time that "wetback" was commonly used by Americans and even the government ("Operation Wetback"). It's a good thing we don't use that word any more. Don't you agree? And, for your information, the UN and EU no longer use the word "illegal" to describe migrants. They use "irregular" or "undocumented" migrants. So it's not just a "Dem" thing.

And regarding "civil violation," that's not an invented term. That is an actual term. It is not a criminal offense under current federal law to be out of status in the US. Those who enter illegally without going through official border checkpoints are subject to criminal charges but a first offense is considered a misdemeanor, not a major crime.

Supreme Court Case--Arizona v. United States (2012): The Court noted that "it is not a crime for a removable alien to remain present in the United States" (i.e., unlawful presence is a civil violation, not criminal), while striking down parts of Arizona's immigration enforcement law.

I have not read the thread.. but geez.. it is un- American and inhumane to feel nothing for people who are being shot, who are being harassed at hospitals and at schools. Our cities and communities are invaded by troops with no accountability. U.S. citizen are caught up in this. They are racially profiling people.. you might be okay now.. but this lawless system will get all of us..

Interesting pronouncement given democrats deported many more undocumented people during the obama and biden years at a higher rate than trump did in his first term, or now, and they managed to do it without destroying local economies or terrorizing children. But go on with he lies and gaslighting.
