Just because someone is not 100% able to understand reality or handle finances or day-to-day living does not mean they are completely not functional or stop having skills or abilities.
Right, but then it becomes a fine line between slavery and indentured servitude. What Britney experience was indeed slavery. She honestly just needs to quit working completely and see who still has a vested interest in managing her affairs then. It's clear that her family's entire motivation is just money.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe she is currently thinking along these lines. Hasn’t she said that she won’t work anymore until her dad is no longer her conservator?
And her dad isn't her conservator anymore. She's complaining but she's not making sense.
Well, it sounds like she wants more changes than just swapping out her dad. Which is fair. She’s a person, not a show pony.
Read her statement. She's complaining about going to a therapist 2x/week and a psychiatrist 1x/week. And she's very upset that she wasn't allowed to go out and get her hair and nails done during COVID. But all of these horrors that she's complaining about happened under the professional conservator, not her dad. She hasn't done shows in years.
Those complaints are not unreasonable on their face. We all got to make our own choices about which risks to take during the pandemic. I can understand that she would like to do that too. Also, she has enough money that her overseers could have allowed an aesthetician to be paid to do her nails in her backyard while wearing a mask. Her desires and preferences should in fact matter when it comes to her own life.
Yes, NP, these requests seem more than reasonable to me, and more to the point, I question why it is remotely appropriate for a conservator to run her life down to the details like this. Their job is to protect her and her estate from serious harm, self-inflicted or otherwise. It is just incredible controlling and sexist to boot to be telling her what she should do in terms of hair/nails, COVID or not, or even compelling more than the minimum in terms of health/therapy. (And presumably she would have to comply with the laws of her location/state, so I don't see why COVID is really an issue at all).

Jamie Spears still holds the position of co-conservator of his daughter's estate, along with financial group Bessemer Trust, which was appointed by Penny in November 2020.
The singer's father acted as the conservator of her person, which includes her medical decisions and more, until September 2019.

What else would he see in her?
Britney is very sweet, but what would the appeal of a badly aging, very damaged white trash former pop star to an absolutely gorgeous Iranian man 12 years her junior?
You’re a disgusting human being. Shame on you.

+1 A good evaluation would have all of these things integrated. It wouldn't just be something written by her psychiatrist. ANd with Britney's resources, she probably has a huge set of medical and psychological documentation to draw upon.

Not all therapists are clinical psychologists. A therapist can be a licensed social worker or a life coach or a counselor, and none of those can diagnose (can provide inputs for another to diagnose). It's not stated who Britney was seeing.

Yeah, she had reason to complain about conservatorship under Jamie, there were so many conflicts of interest there. But now? THe things she's complaining about suggest to me that she's not competent to make healthy choices.
Most people would complain about someone else making choices for them instead of allowing them to make their own choices. That doesn’t provide any evidence that she’s not competent.
Sure, i hope I'm wrong, and as someone said, tons of pop stars flame out without anyone watching them and if that's what Britney wants, there's a case to be made for allowing her to do so. But no one is going to be able to gauge competency if she won't let them evaluate her, and that's what Britney really doesn't want.
Well, surely the mental health experts who have been meeting with her three times a week have some idea of her competency.
Therapists don't make diagnoses.
