My guess is her family goes to "rescue" her at the cabin, she and Marc have made up, she pushes her family away. At some point months/years later Marc threatens suicide if Kate doesn't do what he want, she doesn't do it, and he goes through with the suicide. This is why Kate cannot stand up for what she wants/needs/deserves in a relationship.
Of course a 3 month relationship (or far less) could impact a person for the rest of their life- especially if it is intense as what is portrayed with Kate and the abusive boyfriend.
+1
The previews show him locking her out of the cabin - after dumping her on the side of the road. My guess is Rebecca and the boys show up, take a piece out of Mark (either literally or figuratively) and bring Kate back home. Pretty sure that will be the end of their relationship. I can’t stand Mark.
I’m going to get flamed here, but I have to say this. A part of me was hoping that Rebecca was going to sit Kate down and tell her she has to have gastric bypass surgery. I mean, come on. She has a child to take care of and she was even admitting she didn’t know if she’d be able to teach Jack to ride a bike, swim, etc. Not to mention the health issues that go along with carrying that much weight. It’s time for her to take care of herself, and she’s beyond losing weight through diet and exercise alone. I think it would have been a loving thing for Rebecca to level with her rather than constantly dancing around the subject.

I loved the mother/daughter bonding. It made me so sad knowing that they were finally at a good place and yet Rebecca's time is limited.
I think Kate is being a little harsh with Toby. He's entitled to his feelings too, and I imagine the reality of having a special needs baby is something that everyone handles differently. It's awesome to see Kate find her strength but Toby isn't there yet. Given his history of depression, it's not surprising either. She overreacted when he said he "wanted" to be that kind of husband and father, which seemed like an honest answer to me. And when he was excited about Jack seeing the lights and did a bunch of research, she was all over him about being realistic. He was pleading with her to let him have a little bit of hope for one night, and that wasn't ok with her. It just seems like she's trying to control everything as it relates to him.
Wow. I had the opposite reaction to Tobys research. He is trying to “fix” Jack instead of except that he is blind. It was pure selfish motivation on his part. I think that is why Kate is upset. Sure, Toby gets to feel a loss, but he needs to step up and learn how to beat parent a blind child. Toby sees a broken child, Kate sees a wonderful child.
But I do wonder if Kate is less tolerant of Toby’s reaction because of the neighbor.

I really liked a break from adult Kevin in this episode.
Kate's teen relationship is hard to watch.

It was Madison.
I couldn't tell but Madison was in California. She walked Audio.
Where was Kevin during that week? He flew to Pittsburgh to attend his ex-MIL's funeral. Did he fly back to California? Or is he still in Pittsburgh which would mean it's Sophie?

Adult Kate? What I noticed was that she has great legs! Who knew? She always wears long dressed when I see her photographed.
