USC is a vibe; palm trees, 73 degrees every day, pretty people everywhere. Ann Arbor is frankly a dump.

You are spending an unhealthy amount of time on a message board if you think everyone is the same person. UMich shut down in mid March 2020. The semester ended April 20th. And Ann Arbor is a depressing place. Sorry you're stuck there, romaniypsieyes.

Maybe what they want to do is to have the experiences of being students - - most of their peers are doing. For many people their college years are about a lot more than ticking off a box on the way to a specific career. College also matters as a stepping stone to future options.

I think UCLA and Cal are about 16% oos and UM is 19%, but they also have 50% oos population compared to less than 25% at the UCs. USC is a private school, so not comparable.

Stanford, Yale, and Georgetown were also involved in that scandal. USC is a popular choice for the wealthy because it's a large private school in Los Angeles in a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood.
