This thread makes me feel like I live on an entirely different planet. I can't remember the last time I was on a flight with empty seats - usually they're begging people to check carry-ons because it's full. So switching seats would be impossible. I also feel like 90% of the flights I've taken in the past 5-10 years have been Southwest. They always seem to have the most availability and are the cheapest. And Southwest doesn't do assigned seats. So all this discussion of "buy an aisle" or "ask the FA kindly to switch" is completely irrelevant to most flights I've been on.

I was on a Southwest flight several years ago. The last seat was an aisle seat next to a large gentleman who was sitting in a middle seat and at least 1/4 of the open seat beside him. The armrest was up, there is no way it could have come down. I did not say anything, I am not small by any means. However, looking back, it was a very uncomfortable flight and I should have spoke up.

Or maybe she gives up sex twice a day.

So book early or choose a different flight! This is all obvious when you're booking.

This thread is so disturbing. The replies are comical at best. If this is how ppl act in coach thank goodness I will only fly first class or won’t go.

A la 10:45. You know exactly what is meant here.

That says it all.

PP here. Top PP here stuck their foot in their mouth with that one.

I am that PP and I seriously have no idea what you guys are talking about. I meant edge like...literal edge. the edges/ends of the row. I did not mean some metaphorical life edge, what kind of life edge could one get by sitting in an aisle seat?

Tiny seats, no personal space, lines for the tiny little scary bathroom, climbing over people to get to that horrible bathroom, screaming kids, weird smells, bad food, bad drinks, security check points, getting there early, delayed flights, no personal space, no personal space, no personal space, no space for your bags, tiny seats, tiny seats, tiny seats. If you're sitting near an overweight person, bad luck, oh well, your flight was going to be freaking terrible anyway. ^^^^^

This is why first class & business class exist.

Agreed. Why make it worse by buying only two seats when you clearly necessitate three or more?

All well-earned by the blonde.

+1

She definitely won that one by missing out on sitting there. I think some PPs take it to heart, but maybe they should be looking in the mirror.

Or not so much, they would be in First Class if that was true! First class clearly would not have them. Ain't nothing "classy" about "leaving the middle row 'open' so they can commandeer it".

Klassy, yes.

Kane show threads are like 250 pages long, this doesn't have a chance in hell
