All of these threads turn into the same handful of insecure UChicago and Northwestern losers trying to force their flyover country college -- nobody cares about -- into the elite group.

I think 90 percent of this thread is by one UC Berkeley alum.

Consistently overrated schools:
Harvard
UChicago
Duke
Georgetown

Consistently underrated schools:
Cornell
Williams
Northwestern
Berkeley

What I can't understand is why Duke is so consistently overrated. It belongs in the tier of schools like Cornell, Dartmouth, Rice, WashU, etc.

NW is known for campus rape culture. Doesn’t belong with elite ladies and gentlemen’s club. It’s a low-class, vulgar, animal house.

Please stop.

Sexual assault on NW campus is common knowledge.

Work towards stopping the horrific behavior. You can’t stop what’s already common knowledge. Just look up prior threads in DCUM on this issue before you pretend it’s a nonissue.

DP, it's really not... this is just getting weird and pathetic.

What’s weird and pathetic is one of the above posters trying to deflect the issue: “look no further than Duke, Dartmouth, Penn or Stanford.”

Not a deflection, a succinct explanation. You seem obsessed.

If you don’t believe it, you can google the issue yourself. It’s all out there.

Tell me you didn't get into your first choice school and are insecure about your pedigree without telling me. Your weird vendetta against this school will get you nowhere, and your using something as serious as sexual assault as a cudgel to your own ends is downright despicable and disgusting.

I love it when the Columbia grad tries the new softer approach to upgrading his school.

Columbia really is an excellent school and I would be comfortable grouping it with Stanford, MIT, Princeton...

The next group of Chicago, UPenn, Northwestern, Duke are also all fantastic...

One really has to wonder about the specific type of psychosis of someone who trots out the same spiel against one school page after page, desperate for someone to pay attention to them. I'm sorry that you and/or your kid were rejected from Northwestern. Must be a tough pill to swallow.

But sure, I'll humor you. Northwestern doesn't have a campus rape culture; there were some isolated incidents earlier this year in which some students appeared to have been roofied at a party -- which is absolutely horrible -- but the incidents were swiftly and unilaterally condemned by both the student body and the administration, with all frat activity closed down for the rest of the year. No rapes reported. If you're actually looking for schools with an actual campus rape culture, look no further than Duke, Dartmouth, Penn or Stanford.
