You seem to be on a kick of accusing liberals of doing things based on feelings. I remember nearly being beside myself that an otherwise intelligent person would take a such a position. But, putting that aside, a thinking person would realize that Republicans are taking actions that are being applauded by liberals. A thinking person who valued unity would cheer such a thing. But, you seem to have an emotional need to attack. So, maybe you need to rethink your accusations about liberals being all about feelings?

Liberals and conservatives are standing together in solidarity? Hardly. The attack on the Confederate flag was started by liberals because they needed a scapegoat. Liberals couldn't stand the fact that conservatives and republicans were calling what Roof did reprehensible. But first, you started with posts about how republicans didn't immediate start screaming racism and waited a bit to see what was going on. Then you posted that that still wouldn't call it racism, but instead an attack on Christianity, despite the fact that many used the term "hate crime" when referring to a white man shooting black parishioners.

Again, I have no issues with the actions taken by republicans, especially in their own state. They are doing what they feel they should and I commend them for that, I've said that many times. I have also said I will watch them carefully to see what actions occurred when, because I don't want another politician in office who panders to the vocal majority to get votes. I think that's a fair stance to take.

I'm terribly sorry, though, that it hurts democrat's feelings when conservatives dare bring up the true history of how that flag got on top of the state house, how the Clintons were ok with the flag in AK, and other ways democrats have also supported the confederacy. No, the problem is that not all of them are calling it reprehensible. Some of them are still out there defending white supremacy, segregation, racist hate and all of the things that the Confederate Flag has for its entire existence stood for. And *none* of them are going after the CCC and other organizations that taught Dylann Roof the hate that led to 9 murders. They are responsible.

Republicans are "fixing it for us?" Um, have you looked at the constituency of their legislatures? They are overwhelmingly Republican. As such, they are the only ones who can fix it. Had they been liberal legislatures, those flags would have been gone from government property long ago.

Well I don't know about liberals thoughts on the points you took such joy in presenting, but most African Americans - you know the people who have expressed strong opposition to the Confederate Battle Flag for years - yeah, they pretty much couldn't care less who is responsible for taking it down. It's coming down and that's what matters and truth be told it was the tragic deaths of nine upstanding African American citizens that prompted its removal not a particular political party.

These are called facts, these 'liberal thoughts'. Just because they oppose your point of view, they are to be dismissed? I think not. I'm simply asking you to think, not feel.

I think, not feel, that as is often the case it took a supreme sacrifice on the part of African Americans in order for the government to take action in the interest of justice and equality. I think, not feel, that much in the same manner that it took African American advocates and heroes and martyrs like Frederick Douglass and Sojorner Truth and Emmitt Till and Medgar Evers and Rosa Parks and Dr King and many others to bring about change in this country, it once again it took a supreme sacrifice by African Americans to spark change.

What change? Removing a flag?

Change is what you saw in SC, when there was a huge outcry about the murders and huge support for the families and the church. Actually, I take that back. That was NOT change. That was Americans being Americans. That was the real America that liberals don't want to believe exists. And when they didn't get their 'cause', they created one.

Yes I agree that was real change. People weren't isolating and identifying themselves along racial lines or political ideologies (ahem...), people came together in the humanitarian interest of one another and the shared commonality of being Americans. And, like I said, the fact is it once again took the supreme sacrifice of upstanding African Americans to spark that change.
