Something that doesn't exist. What did exist this Winter was a mixed team of Good Counsel upper class high school players, including commits, joined by a group of strong 29s (6-8 per game) who played quite well and went 5-0 in the High School Varsity Gold Division as "Falcons Silver". At least one 29 dad thinks this is revolutionary and is fired up to the level of some of the 2028 dads with the potential of his DD. Good for him. Enjoy the excitement. This guy has twice beat his chest about the 29 team beating Cap Orange. Its winter league. Many of the Cap Orange girls arent even playing with the team this winter. But congrats to your 29 DD.

Connection to the school doesn't mean much when you don't have the players to back it up. Schools aren't going to do Capital any favors if the players are not up to par.

Fair Point. If your kid is trying to play for a top 10 school, then absolutely they need to be elite athletes and players. Very few Capital players are playing at UNC, BC, Northwestern, etc. However, as you go through the process and get past the top 10, it's not as much about lacrosse skills as one might think. High School, GPA, Club team, nice/intelligent kid, family or club connections, wealth, etc. all play a factor. If the kid can't catch, it's a non starter, but you'd be surprised how many just "OK" kids get courted by some very good universities/lacrosse programs.

Agreed! Feel like the DMV lacrosse scene is great at bickering and spending lots of money on horrible training. Meanwhile, Baltimore kids keeps their heads down, have quality coaches, work harder and then beat the crap out of D.C. teams.

You apparently don't follow the Baltimore lacrosse scene too closely. Check out Back of the Cage Maryland if you want to see "bickering". By the way, the "kids" the DC area "keep their heads down" and work just as hard as anybody. The parents are a special in their own way though, I will give you that.

I will say that the dynamic in this area is unique. High-powered and competitive families and kids, with limited spots on the top local team, which provides the only major option for top tier D1 recruiting in Capital. Then you have the potential loss of talent from local teams to the national hotbed in Baltimore and the top 2 clubs in the country (and 3-4 out of the top 10), less than 60 miles away. Top it off with the fact that Capital starts in 9th grade, and the mix creates a good deal of pressure, and lots of the intensity in the dialogue on these threads.

Can anyone please share what the Capitals program includes? What is the year-round training and what tournaments do they play? Do they have connections to select teams or showcases? What is their recruiting program like? It doesn’t sound unique and I can’t find anything online!

Is the argument about making the best DMV team or about getting your child recruited?
