I don't know if anyone wins in youth soccer. However ECNL has pissed A LOT of people off which is helping SYC.
I'm not sure whether SYC got lucky b/c of others' misfortune, or whether they deserve some credit here.
Like most things its never one thing, probably more of a combo. But they are the chaos agent in a way. I could be off with exact timeline but here's what happened if you just logged in today.
- Fall/Winter 2023 SYC dissolved VA Union partnership which leaves MYS with no union when it needs one because of depleted pipeline since Arlingon got GA/ now ECNL was their original partner for MYS ECNL and DA back in the day.
- Januray 2024 SYC announces its depature annouces GA acceptance, while FCV current GA powerhouse rumors are rampant of their coaches jumping ship and not having fields secure for 2024-25 season
- January/Febrary 2024 US Soccer recognizes afflication with GA, which on the outside is just registering players, but insiders no its the inside track for women's academies
- February/March 2024 MYS annouces new Union wth BRAVE (BRYC + Vienna) to replace deminished pipeline from SYC's departure. Poor communication and justicifacation on who this benefits, who's at fault and who is in charge leads to true spectulation about the MYS (Union) product.
- April 2024 and moving forward SYC lands more players than anyone would have assumed and MYS familes officailly have buyers remorse questioning if ECNL is serving girls and boys simultaneously is best for there darling DD. What orgnization does that well in sports? Name one, that serves girsl and boys equitably and at an elite level?

Probably not its only March 8. I'm sure they have some core groups (6-10 players) locked in at each age level. Tryouts will be annouced soon, after that week they will have to extend all the offers they have left. 2012's may be the exception, they only needed to add a handful of new players to their current squad. Grabbed two best from McLean so far, they might be done with offers, but I would gather the rest want to see more players in April.
Not true
