What you have to understand is that sports is often the ticket to get students who do not have a 4.3 or better or play an instrument or have near perfect SAT scores get into these schools. You would be surprised how many students will bypass your non athletic child over a student who has been playing lacrosse, football, volleyball etc for years. It shows persistence, dedication and commitment to not only yourself but to your team and coach. Take a look at the leaders in this country and you will find those students each and every day-- The Ivies are great -- if you like going to a pressure cooker school with a high percentage of international students and you are not the star student any longer. Get real-- those big three do not make your child successful they only provide the tools. Straight A's in all your AP/ IB classes, sports, community service and test scores are your ticket-- start now because when you are a junior it is too too late. Oh, obviously your child has never played lacrosse or has never made a team or you would 'get it'.

If the behavior is that bad, then "sack up" and have a polite talk with the person(s) you find to be offensive. In my experience, pulling someone aside is not viewed negatively so long as you do it privately and do NOT talk about the encounter. In DC, sports parenting is a sport in itself. If your kid is good and continues in lax, you are going to need to find a way to cope with these types of people -- they are not going away.

There are a lot of lame things about the NPYLL. The fact that they now have a U9 division is a perfect example.
Lame? Npyll the best club teams around in the mdvadc area playing each other is lame? Stick with rec programs if that works for you.
