Not all. It really depends on what kind of body armor and what kind of ammunition. A decent vest with ceramic or steel plate will stop many .223's. Some types of ammo, like hollowpoints, are not very good at getting through armor.

So why bother with bulletproof vests at all?

The most common rifles calibers used for hunting deer (historically) are the .30-30 Winchester and the .30-06 Springfield


Do an internet search for the kinetic energy chart for those calibers, and compare them to the kinetic energy chart for 5.56mm NATO caliber (in AR-15’s)



Then get back to us and tell us what you learned.

The Gun Expo is not a celebratory cultural mixed bag. A Black person can easily be uncomfortable at that good ol’ boy family reunion.

I've never even remotely seen that large of a percentage at any of the gun shows I've gone to.

Eh - this is kind of a lame argument. American military helmets and body armor could never protect against the 7.62mm round. That is what an AK-47 shoots and 99% of our enemies use in combat in Iraq, Afghanistan and Vietnam. Very, very few elements of the military have armor that protect against 7.62mm as it is super expensive and was really, really heavy so you could only function for an hour or two on a mission before you simply collapse from the weight and heat.

US law enforcement get the hand-me-downs from the US military or buy their own new equipment built to military spec. There are tons of rounds out there that no armor can stop. A typical deer rifle fires a .308 and short of cinder block it is going through everything.
