I mean, if you live in Ward 1, then you chose to live in the loudest, most diverse and most vibrant part of the city. You’ve now decided that you don’t want to live in the loudest, most diverse and most vibrant part of the city. That’s good. And it’s good that you have the choice to do so in this city.

But honestly, what’s the future? Just let it get worse and worse? For what?

I think that the campaign is working to make the issue salient online, which increases number of people riled up about it which leads to more media coverage, etc. Once the campaign is over next week, what seems like a frenzy of internet will subside because a big chunk of the agitation around it is not organic. It honestly reminds me of the frenzy generated by the CRT nonsense. So we will go back to the annual and normal level fits of annoyance.

50% is people getting riled up by the campaign.

50% is people who are concerned but will be resigned when Nadeau wins a narrow-ish victory.

Either way, the agitation around this issue will recede after Election Day.

What people maybe don’t realize is that things got progressively worse and worse and really just went off the cliff this past summer. Then it all goes a bit dormant over the winter due to the weather and it’s back worse than ever. It’s just too much. Before this past summer, there was some check on this activity. I write this to a thump thump of some lawnmower (ATV whatever) riding man in his 50s doing tricks?! This will carry on the whole night x 30

I personally posted on here because it’s unbearable. If it helps with change come June 21st, even better.

I don’t think so. It’s a really big problem for a lot of people.
Mocking their distress is not helping. It’ll probably go quiet on these boards. But that’s worse, imo. Those who can afford to move will move. Lower income families will take the brunt of the suffering, again.

It’s interesting to me that of the 3 top DC citizen reporters, 2 will not report on this at all and it makes me wonder whether these groups are seriously far more dangerous and organized than people think. Bikers gangs are a huge deal in Aus and NZ

It will be interesting if all of this agitation will disappear after Election Day. I think it’s a strong possibility.

D.C. police are looking for ATV riders in connection with a road rage shooting that left a man with serious injuries in Southeast D.C. earlier this week.

The crime brought back horrible memories for Ken McClenton, whose daughter’s shooting death seven years ago also involved ATV riders. His daughter, Charnice Milton, was a journalist who was waiting for a bus on Good Hope Road in May 2015 when she was shot.

While riding ATVs or dirt bikes on city streets is illegal, police say they cannot enforce the law because of the department’s no-chase policy

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser says the police department is going to reset its approach to ATVs.

"Some of these stunts that we see people doing, they think it's fun and games," Bowser said.

In the past, D.C. officials have released images of riders and offered reward money to help identify them. A few years ago, police released video of seized bikes being crushed.

Bowser is now hinting at new enforcement involving the department’s traffic division and more visibility in entertainment districts, where the rumble of these riders is often heard on weekends.

"ATVs are for off-road ... By definition, they're illegal on the road, and they’re dangerous," she said.

McClenton is planning to meet with detectives to get an update on his daughter’s case for the first time in three years.

While he isn’t convinced that police are going to make headway in cracking down on ATV riders, he's still hopeful his daughter will get justice

"It will be the day I die before I give up hope," he said.

Police said the Milton case is still open and active, but no arrests have been made. A $25,000 reward is offered for help in solving the crime.
