More teams & numbers consistently on the boys side in clubs, why would a club not want the MLS badge? My daughter plays Ecnl in Ohio but our club on the boys side has stronger teams and gets more attention. Honestly I would welcome the switch to Mls/ GA earlier than later. Unless ECNL can position itself in front of Mls Next (long shot) then I give ecnl 2-3 years before they become 2nd tier. We know from history this can happen quickly with leagues. It's not like these clubs have multi year contracts, it's literally year to year.
GA bot alert!!!

What's not true about this?

Many people are saying the same thing. The girl dads are overinvested in ECNL. MLSN clubs are what boys prefer to play for. If MLSN drops the hammer on clubs that have MLSN/ECNL and say go GA or lose MLSN people know what they will choose.
100% and why wouldn't mls do that? They have leverage on the boys side, girls unfortunately fund the boys success in clubs. Our clubs switching to GA in Ohio are solid, bring on the switch with us! I would be happy to play in the GA especially if they eventually partner with NWSL. Once that happens, ECNL becomes Elite 64
The NWSL and girls Academy merger has not been discussed recently on DCUM. Does anyone have a good update to share?
Discussions are ongoing. GA and US Soccer want this to happen. Its also likely that this one of the reasons GA hasn't announced if they plan to change to SY.
Unfortunately or fortunately depending on your perspective. Many girls ECNL club owners, coaches, and docs still have a lot of sway. Which is keeping things from happening.
With the recent NCAA changes the legacy good old boys club hold on the market is decreasing.
Girls Academy and US Soccer want it to happen? What about NWSL? Any idea on their perspective?
I hear they prefer ECNL as a merger partner.
That's easily solved. Take the top 15-20 clubs, jump to GA. Just another re-branding -- something ECNL is good at.
If MLSN says no more girls ECNL you must play in GA this is exactly what will happen.
This ttpe of action by the way was initially what ECNL was doing to clubs after DA blew up. ECNL would take girls ECNL away if clubs joined MLSN. So dont feel bad for ECNL now that they're about to get a taste of their own medicine.
Given how cutthroat some youth soccer clubs are -- if GA gets momentum, it wouldn't surprise me that the top level ECNL clubs jump ship -- if they think its a better deal/more power, including those who even helped found ECNL. It's all apart of their alpha mentality that they believe their players should also adopt on the field. But first they will argue endlessly that this is what will happen to the top GA clubs, first -- because that's the same mentality of what they see as competition.
