There's a difference between "arranged marriage" and "matchmaking". With the former, the parents had more control; with the latter, it's the children (with more than a little parental pressure

Love this show and enjoy the insight into Indian culture. I want to have my face read lol.
One question I have is that matching seems to be an old fashioned concept and many young Indians seem to reject it initially, why is that? Does it not work out? They show these old couples as examples of being matched but I don’t always get a vibe of happiness in those relationships

So I think his problem is his family’s chicken business. I do believe even meat eating families in India don’t want to marry into a family where the business is basically butchering chickens. They kept saying people didn’t want to go to Naushik. I had never heard of it but Wikipedia says it has ~1.5 mill people. That’s not a tiny village.
