Every single club is bigger than one age group. That the FCV team had it happen is just luck of the draw. It could have been any team. Last year at FCV the Uw9s and U17s had about 22 players each.
I get it. Your little Mia is an 05, but this isn't just about her age group.
Name one local ECNL 05 team with 21....go

It not like those 10 bench players are entering the prime recruiting period or anything. Uhhhh...Duh....
True. That would be the 04s and 03s. Solid point.
Sure. Well too bad for the three 2005 players that won't get rostered this weekend. Feel bad for those kids and families. Did they pay full price for DA?
I don't know, but it's not like FCV didn't do it last year in some of the age groups, so families going there know what to expect. If they didn't like it, they could pick another place to play. And nothing compares to the madness Spirit did last year. They had almost 30 playing U15, 20 U14, 19 U17, and 20 U19.
25 rostered on McLean ECNL
There you go. And BRYC lists 20+ for some of their ECNL teams too.

Yes true but large rosters are easier to handle in ECNL with substitution rules. Doesn't DA limit how much field time the 18 rostered 2005s will get each game?
Forget the 3 not rostered, they will be gone in a year.
False. Even in the ECNL, only 18 may dress out for a game.
No. no. Read what I said again. I am talking about the 18 rostered. Does DA have unlimited subs for the 05s? Are all 18 able to play in a given game?
Yes, actually, they can.
Cool. Have fun with that big roster. You sure fleeced those families.
The guy makes up a story about all 18 not being able to play. He then gets called out for being ignorant. He then changes the story. What we have here folks is someone who knows very little about the youth travel soccer world and yet is a self proclaimed genius on the matter.
For those that want to know the reality, 18 at FCV is several less than almost every single ecnl club at those ages. If you’re not talking about ecnl or GDA your situation isn’t relevant in the college recruiting conversation.

18 at any DA is several less....
I fixed it for you.

Allowed up to 7 subs but the no return to play rule makes coaches reluctant to pull their starters, so the end result is more disparity in playing time.
This wouldn't happen if coaches weren't so focused on winning, but that's the "development" academy for you.

18 is a big roster?
18 is fine. 21 is a crime.
