The VDA showcase is not counted toward one's standings, unless you are talking gotsoccer. It is not a factor for playoffs.
I'm talking ECNL/DA showcases. Not showcases run by clubs.
That's not what anyone has been talking about but ok. For the DA, clubs are required to give starts to non-starter at showcases. They are required to give starts to non-starter 25% of the time over all. So DA clubs, boys and girls, look for showcases and friendlies other than official DA events as a way to give more time to non-starter. And the DA league actively encourages this.
Do yourself a favor. Stop with the "We tried a new formation...our starters didn't play...we played kids out of position....we were missing players....it don't count so we didn't try"
Its a bad look. Stop investing so much emotion into something the nobody..and I mean nobody..is going to remember or even care about in a few years..to include yourself.

VDA 04 beat Bethesda 04 (3-1) a month ago in a friendly and FCV DA 04 tied Bethesda 04 (1-1) last week in a friendly. VDA 04 lost to Maryland United (1-0) three weeks ago and FCV DA 04 beat Maryland United (1-0) last week in a friendly.
Hardly qualifies as sucking but I’m sure you and misery are besties
Lol. New to soccer are you? First, they’re friendlies. Second, one result is not indicative of anything, especially in this sport.
All kind has to do is watch teams play either live or on video and the level becomes very obvious.
Anonymous wrote:Friendlies and showcases are not good ways to evaluate anything because not all clubs approach them the same way. Some go into every game every time as a means to win and showcase their strength as a club. That's fine and valid. Others use it as a way to give playing time to non-starter and as a an off season event for anyone in town. The games may not have key players or may not play them the same amount or position as in season. For example, a coach may use it as a chance to try alternative formations or try players in New positions.
This shouldn't be hard to understand, and all this parental chest thumping is bizarre.

The silliest comments are the ones where you’re tearing down a local showcase that nobody said was special but you’re so insecure you feel the need to drag everyone down.
It doesn't tear anything down. It puts it into perspective. VDA made some money. Players got some preseason scrimmages in. That's all totally fine. Keep it real though. That's all that really happened.
Who said it was more than that?
Read the thread. Anyone who takes these games seriously and doesn't realize it's just preseason, a chance to play non-starters, kids are out of town, and so on is who said it was more than that. I don't think RU is done for just because they got waxed at this thing by Bethesda. I bet if they played them again (which the teams that did play won"t), it will be a different result. The 05 RU team lost 0-4, even though there is some genuine talent on that team, including an 05 who got called up for the YNT.
You should head over to the metro united thread.
Very interested to see how VDA 06, 04 and 03 do in the Maryland showcase in a few weeks. Didn't FCV play against Maryland United last weekend for friendly's? It will be interesting to see how they all measure up.
Vda 03 and 04 are terrible.
What qualifies the VDA 04 and 03 team to be terrible? Looking at the scores the 04's are fifth place beating out all the other DMV teams in the area and only losing by 1 against Richmond who is number 1 in that age group. The 03 team is on the bottom but I did hear that they are doing better.
They play in a weak division in a weak league.
