Nobody ever plans on losing but again, trophies are not handed out unless a ECNL or DA playoff situation. So for a majority of the teams in ANY showcase the priority is playing everyone and playing well.

The only thing you said that has value is that in a few years, no one will even care or remember. I agree with that.

The VDA showcase is not counted toward one's standings, unless you are talking gotsoccer. It is not a factor for playoffs.

I'm talking ECNL/DA showcases. Not showcases run by clubs.

That's not what anyone has been talking about but ok. For the DA, clubs are required to give starts to non-starter at showcases. They are required to give starts to non-starter 25% of the time over all. So DA clubs, boys and girls, look for showcases and friendlies other than official DA events as a way to give more time to non-starter. And the DA league actively encourages this.

Do yourself a favor. Stop with the "We tried a new formation...our starters didn't play...we played kids out of position....we were missing players....it don't count so we didn't try"

Its a bad look. Stop investing so much emotion into something the nobody..and I mean nobody..is going to remember or even care about in a few years..to include yourself.

For the ECNL, you are right, but good clubs still give time to non-starter at showcases because they want to get all their players recruited, not just the starting 11.

Lol. New to soccer are you? First, they’re friendlies. Second, one result is not indicative of anything, especially in this sport.

All kind has to do is watch teams play either live or on video and the level becomes very obvious.

So true! VDA did the same as FCV in the same manner as any friendly would be held and had the same outcome scores. No one is smashing the scores board on any level. Why do you feel the need to make sure to let the world know how amazing FCV 04 is over all other clubs in the same age group. It appears to be desperate at best and really who cares. Focus on your DD's team, focus on getting your kid a D1 offer that provides some kind of scholarship, then after she commits if that happens focus on her training so that she can actually play in said college so all your efforts don't go to waist. News flash, your money and your politics won't help your kid in college to earn playing time like it does in club soccer so stop bad mouthing other clubs and focus your time and energy on your DD and her individual needs. No college will take the whole team she is playing on that makes her look good and no college really cares how the whole team performs they are looking at the individual and how she out preforms next to the team member, remember that. Just so we are clear my hope for all these kids is to get exactly what they earned and deserves. Stop tearing children down to feed your low self worth.

Some go into every game every time as a means to win and showcase their strength as a club. That's fine and valid. Others use it as a way to give playing time to non-starter and as a an off season event for anyone in town. The games may not have key players or may not play them the same amount or position as in season. For example, a coach may use it as a chance to try alternative formations or try players in New positions.

This shouldn't be hard to understand, and all this parental chest thumping is bizarre.

And in a showcase environment playing time and exposure for all the kids is taken more into account. There are no trophies at showcases.

This thread dropped from #1 to #14 and almost disappeared to the second page. We could have been done with all this goofiness and poof...Mr. Misery woke up from his slumber and brought it back to the top.

The silliest comments are the ones where you’re tearing down a local showcase that nobody said was special but you’re so insecure you feel the need to drag everyone down.

It doesn't tear anything down. It puts it into perspective. VDA made some money. Players got some preseason scrimmages in. That's all totally fine. Keep it real though. That's all that really happened.

Who said it was more than that?

Read the thread. Anyone who takes these games seriously and doesn't realize it's just preseason, a chance to play non-starters, kids are out of town, and so on is who said it was more than that. I don't think RU is done for just because they got waxed at this thing by Bethesda. I bet if they played them again (which the teams that did play won"t), it will be a different result. The 05 RU team lost 0-4, even though there is some genuine talent on that team, including an 05 who got called up for the YNT.

You should head over to the metro united thread.

Very interested to see how VDA 06, 04 and 03 do in the Maryland showcase in a few weeks. Didn't FCV play against Maryland United last weekend for friendly's? It will be interesting to see how they all measure up.

Vda 03 and 04 are terrible.

What qualifies the VDA 04 and 03 team to be terrible? Looking at the scores the 04's are fifth place beating out all the other DMV teams in the area and only losing by 1 against Richmond who is number 1 in that age group. The 03 team is on the bottom but I did hear that they are doing better.

They play in a weak division in a weak league.

So Richmond United is weak LMAO whatever... Have your DD team play them and some of the ECNL teams then talk.
