Have you followed college lacrosse? There is parity everywhere... the same applies to the DC region. Every year the DC region has a team that is top 5 nationally.

3 years ago it was Prep in 2014
2 years ago it was Landon in 2015
Last year both Bullis and Gonzaga were the top dogs.
This year, Landon appears to be very good but it's too early to crown them anything.

I can't predict the future but I can assure some of those early recruits at Prep will not pan out by the time they are juniors or seniors.

Bullis has by far the best player in the entire state of Maryland right now, they will drop next year after he graduates. I don't care how many senior transfers they bring in - Trippi might be one of the best players this area in the past decade.

I agree that Trippi is an outstanding player and likely will be in college. As for the young talent at Prep, some certainly may not pan out at the high school level, but most will contribute. The real question is whether all the kids will pan out in college—especially the early commits.

Prep might be a regional power in 2 seasons, but don't give me the national contender BS. They were very average last year. This year they needed OT to beat a historically bad Spaulding program and had a difficult time beating St. Chris from Richmond.

They will get waxed by Bullis and Gonzaga this year and Landon could very well beat them by 10 +.

Focus on beating top local competition next season before you start talking about national rankings.

Google Joseph S. Triginani you will find a news article from 2001 that has been making the rounds in the lax community.

That's how!

Those days are long, long gone.

Landon had a 10-year head start on everyone else prior to the mid 1990's. Prep eventually caught them. Now Bullis is in the mix along with SSSA.

Landon won in these early because they alone developed players starting in Middle school, the sport attracted their best athletes and they had a superior coach. Now those advantages have disappeared.

Prep now has 1,000 boys and a reinvigorated pipeline to Mater Dei. Bullis has shown it wall do what it needs to do to stay relevant. SSSA has little competition in Virginia for boys who want to play lacrosse at a high level at a private school.

My son, a lacrosse player, doesn't go to Landon. He attends another IAC school.

You are wrong about Landon. They continue to be a nationally ranked top 10 team and the top ranked boys Varsity lacrosse team in the IAC . The current rankings (and the UA rankings are conisdered to be "the" ranking):

Top 25 HS Rankings

Interesting, but you are missing the point.

When the poster above said "reign" he was not referring to a one year pre-season ranking. But instead, he was referring to the period of Landon dominance of the League in which until the mid 1990's they dominated the league (except fpr STA in a single year). It was Prep who finally matched them after Giblin became GP coach and had his own Landon-like middle school lacrosse program to produce a stream of players that could catch and throw the lacrosse ball.

The kind of reign that is being suggested is one in which a single school, wins the IAC title for 5, 10 or 20 years. Not a single year.

It's OK. You are obviously new to this and don't understand the history of lacrosse in the IAC.

Wow/ You are so brilliant. I guess you will make millions understanding private high school lacrosse in the DMV.

Pipeline to GP has been strong the last two years and for this upcoming fall, but it only has just under 500 boys—not 1,000 boys as the previous poster suggested (Gonzaga has about 1,000 boys+/-). Of the Mater Dei kids (not all obviously play lacrosse), Prep will get at least 27 kids this fall, including the lacrosse players, if not 30-31. Prep will also get a handful of very talented lacrosse players outside of the Mater Dei pipeline. Two years ago, Prep got 29 Mater Dei kids, including all the lacrosse players. Gonzaga should still be good this year, but last year was their best team and will be for some time. Prep should surprise some schools this year because they have plenty of talent—albeit mostly underclassmen. Look for them to contend next year and possibly be a national title contender in two to three years.

Landon will win it all this year and may end up being national champion by seasons' end. Unfortunately (from a lacrosse perspective, anyway), they will graduate a large senior class, and the cupboard is relatively thin (by Landon standards) in the underclassmen. Bullis is strong this year, but will also be in the same boat as Landon. Landon tends to develop more home grown players whereas, to some degree, Bullis takes in a handful more of transfers (Prep also has a strong transfer coming in as a junior this fall).

Prep will beat Gonzaga.

Gonzaga's reign is coming to an end.

The pipeline has shifted back in Prep's favor for the past two years.

Good start, for sure. But they are about to run into a buzz-saw of a schedule, with Zaga and the IAC. If they can escape that with only 2 losses, I'll become a believer.
