He may have become addicted to pain medicine, but was not an addiction borne of hard partying that included recreational drug use.
He was known for deliberately steering clear of people who use drugs.
He kicked Vanity out of Purple Rain due to her drug use!!
Yeah, I never got the impression that he was a druggie/heavy drinker. Too vibrant, too much energy and just always spot on with his vocals, instruments, dancing. I don't think he could have done what he did if he had had drug/drinking issues.
I also think that the addiction stemmed from a *need* for the pain killers. His body was hurting.

I wonder if he had seasonal affective disorder? The sad thing is his demise was probably a result of his fame and performances for the fans doing the splits. I don't get why people close to him didn't know or do anything about it until it was too late, unless he was avoiding getting treatment for whatever reason.
Are you kidding? If he was addicted to pain medication it was a result of a physical ailment this man wasn't partying hard and using drugs. Do you know anything about Prince, a highly religious Jehovah's Witness. There were songs from his early career, darling Nikki etc. that he wouldn't even perform anymore.
Dude was not out drinking and drugging.

You have to realize there is the image of Prince and the real man which were two different things. I think he changed his ways and he was no longer a spring chicken or a partier, but old habits die hard. No pun intended.

Radio stations will simultaneously broadcast the song at 6:07pm this evening. Not sure which of our local stations are participating.

Thank you -- I listened and cried like a baby. Thank you and soar on, Prince.
OMG, that was amazing. He was a f'ing genius. I am sooooo sorry I never got to see him live. As for everyone talking about addiction & addicts - I can guarantee you that not a single person alive aspires to addiction. And I'd also bet everything I have that any addict would rather be clean. I don't know if he was addicted or not. I don't care one way or the other except to feel incredible compassion for him and the pain (mental, physical, whatever) that he must have been in.
PRINCE FAN GIRL HERE. sorry for screaming, but the line is "It's been 7 HOURS and 15 days..."
Nothing compares 2u
