You're African-American. Melanie is a Daddy's little girl and Terence gets jealous that his sister gets attention for just being cute while he can only get attention for being good at sports, so he acts out and gets in trouble for hurting Melanie. Dad doesn't know how to interact with Melanie except for commenting on her looks. Both parents thought about how the names would be perceived on resumes, but REALLY loved the name Terence and thought the name Melanie was so, SO pretty. The family attends family reunions every summer where everybody wears the same t-shirt, and meets up at a public park.
Haha. Nice try and good stereo typing effort
I am white, spouse is from Burma ( what? Never heard of it? Not surprised - look it up, yes google earth is your friend)

You are an avid reader of baby name blogs and chose Josephine over Piper and Marlowe. You're 32 and addicted to True Blood and Vampire Diaries, though you don't admit it. You're reasonably sporty, like doing crafts with your kid, and secretly think you're better than your coworkers in most regards.

I am happy when I meet a Gus because I was not so sure about it and it validates my decision - which I think is pathetic.
I have a nephew Gus, which is short for August, which was my grandfather's name and the only family name that hadn't been used in every generation. (We're all very big on family names, always have been.) Gus fits him to an absolute T.
I went back and forth on August and Augustus sounded like too much. We settled on just Gus.
"Gus" sounds like someone's old alcoholic uncle.

You and DH are east coast WASPs, but not very religious. You were an English major and DH was a history major. Now he's a lawyer and you SAH. You live in Montgomery County and drive a minivan. Henry is sensitive; William struggled to potty train and Paul is a sweet baby but has wicked excema.

DC2: Find out sex in 2 weeks. If a boy, William Whitfield (will go by Whit), if a girl, Shelby is our current leader
Shelby![]()
I pray you have a boy. Although, Whit is not much better than Shelby.
Shelby. Steel Magnolias your favorite movie? Mustang your favorite car? Whit...less? OMG, the poor kids.
None! Shelby is just one of the few names DH and I can agree on and Whit is short for Whitfield which is the name of the chapel we were married in.

You live in Bethesda or Kensington in a four bedroom house, kids all play sports, you drive a minivan and have a lab or golden retriever.
We do love sports and labs!
I was thinking these names had swim team written all over them!

You don't live in the DC area. You are a single mom, and have been for most of the kids' lives. Your house is small but immaculate, and people are constantly commenting on how well-behaved your kids are. You drink rose, because it reminds you of your year abroad in France. You manage the finances for a large nonprofit and spend your free time reading chick lit and Grisham paperbacks.
