They went to dinner and played mah-jongg!

I would not call it idle speculation if it comes from a reputable journalist, but it certainly isn't official. I think this journalist understands she could ruin his life if she discussed this without having reputable sources.
It’s also a journalist who has spent the bulk of their career focused on legal issues and crime. This isn’t some rando on social media just spouting off their opinion.

I sincerely hope they did not do this. That is even worse than a lunatic obsessed with Savannah or something. Geez.
I also hope they didn't do it. It would indeed explain why the public is not at risk.
Do you think Savannah would be staying at their home if she had been briefed by the FBI that her brother-in-law was a suspect? Get real.
This is a good point. I don’t think Savannah would be staying at the house if there was any likelihood of this. It also kind of does not make sense in terms of motive- why do this to your 84 year old mother in law? She did not have a ton of assets and with her age and health issues is (realistically) not going to be around for too may more years.
It’s well known that they’re a very close family and do a lot of things together. It’s not surprising that the Ashley Banfields and Maga types are running with this narrative. They should investigate every person in the family. I would be concerned if they didn’t! Looking into all possibilities Does not mean guilt, it means an effective investigation.

Congrats, much stupid very dim
Finland and Sweden are "third world countries" by the original, correct definition of the term.
Also, whoever has the family member "working the case" ... they actually suck at their job and you are even worse for running to the internet with whatever information they feed your slack-jawed maw that you can't keep shut
