At lease make the effort, send textbooks, emails, assignments, ask kids to read X,Y,Z. Just for performance's sake, if not for real, since they are so good at performing - just look at the head of MCPS rapping in videos. The lack of care and focus on actual instruction and academics is staggering. Snow days just expose the dysfunction of the whole system.
I just wish parents cared this much about their kid's education when school is actually in session. It only mysteriously seems to happen when schools are closed.

More likely that kids are too busy working with expensive tutors to remediate the basic skills you failed to properly teach

Emits teachers don’t use textbooks and they are online for the few they use. We have some teachers sending emails with assignments. They can but choose not to.
I posted assignments. Zero were submitted yesterday. I’ll be shocked if any are done today or tomorrow.

Read their emergency message today..they are already hinting at a closure on Monday. No way they will open on Friday.
Can you quote this? I didn't see anything that referenced Monday.
They did not use the word "Monday" but they said parents should prepare for an "extended closure" and referenced the possibility of snow over the weekend.
The threat of snow over the weekend has all but disappeared. Even the GFS, which was the one remaining model forecasting significant snowfall, is starting to cave to the Euro. If MCPS can't open by Monday, it's such a miserable failure of the entire school system.

Anonymous wrote:I got curious and drove the bus routes for my school. There is going to have to be a lot of work done to clear these bus stops if we want to open this week. Can’t imagine its a good look to have half a dozen kids standing atop a 4 foot ice wall waiting for a bus at 7 am

It’s not just MCPS. It’s the county.
Libraries and rec centers are open. I get schools are a much heavier lift than those, but MCPS Central Office is not.

So many streets are not plowed, how are child care providers supposed to get out of their neighborhoods to get to the school?
Many lots and streets are cleared. The providers always have the option to not open. MCPS has not given them that option. This has been explained as nauseum on these threads. It's clear Thomas just wants to give his people a bunch of free days off. Montgomery County Government is open today. Not even liberal leave. This is embarrassing for MCPS.
Most public schools in the DMV are closed. Its just a few days. Its not the end of the world. Get a grip.
You get a grip. Many of these child care workers have multiple jobs and may not be available. Clearly if you have time to post here you can care for your kids.
Nobody is saying it is the end of the world. We are saying we are missing work and income so Thomas Taylor can curry favor with a bunch of overpaid bureaucrats.
If most schools are closed in the DMV how can you blame or single out Taylor and MCPS?
Because as far as I know, MCPS is the only one forcing on-site private child care providers to stay closed through Thursday (and probably Friday.)
