Trump expedited it for Musk. Oops. He’ll probably send them back. Retribution and all.

However, on a broader level, I find this entire situation absurd. The United States has become far too reliant on migrant labor, having half of the agricultural workforce undocumented. We need to ask ourselves why this is the case. It ain’t because this is "work Americans won't do". It's entirely because, for over 40 years, corporations have been allowed to exploit cheap imported labor, keeping wages for these jobs disgustingly low sometimes even below the federal minimum wage.

There are plenty of Americans who would be willing to do this work, but not for $12 an hour under the sweltering sun of Texas. Offer $30 an hour plus benefits to harvest lettuce, and you would see plenty of people lining up for those jobs. The problem lies in the fact that neither Democrats nor Republicans have taken meaningful action for decades. BOTH sides have allowed "big ag" to exploit these workers, paying pennies per box harvested perpetuating this cycle of exploitation, and doing so in such a way that if it were to ever dare end, suddenly panic, omg, our foods gonna rot and we're all gonna die of starvation because we cant afford food! They have caught you in this line of thinking, so they will always get their cheap, exploitive labor.

In my opinion, the widespread abuse of migrant labor over the past four decades is a shameful stain on this country. But, just like iPhones and Nike shoes, most people turn a blind eye to the unethical labor practices behind the products they want, so long as the price is low. Just look at OPs post: concerns about "rotting crops" and "skyrocketing prices", and not a single care about the exploitation of these workers. This has been ignored for decades and now that there's a policy threatens to send them home, we just get all up in arms because we might have to pay more.

It’s almost like saying that an economy can’t survive without illegal & low or no cost labor to farm the land. You know who else used that argument????

The Confederacy during the Civil War. Let that sink in.

Let's not "both sides" this. The democrats have supported workers rights and unionization....remember Ceasar Chavez and how he was crucified by republicans?

The democratic party you are wistfully referring to no longer exists. Democrats are now the party of the overeducated elites who look down their noses at blue-collar workers, sneer at flyover country, and mock the middle class when they said they were struggling the last few years.

We see who you are, not the idolized version you like to believe you are.

It is really shocking to see mainstream democrats like Hakim Jeffries condoning this mob violence against innocent federal workers. Even more shocking is Mayor Bass actually calling for more violence against federal workers.

So disgusted with the democrats right now!

Add LA City Council member Eunisses Hernandez to those calling for escalation.

It means we need to reevaluate policies and improve them. Not double down.

Really so what's up with letting white South Africans in and quickly.... No process needed. Explain or are you tired

A process was needed - that required an executive order. It’s not like all of a sudden a bunch of South Africans arrived and were let in. Trump signed an executive order, and the invited refugees arrived by plane to Dulles. They were let in because of reputable hate-filled threats of murder by a national party leaders without repercussions.

An EO is not a process. How lovely that they sent a plane and really rolled out the red carpet for them. Do you not think the Latino immigrants are also fleeing dangerous situations and threats??

No I don’t think it’s a given that Latino immigrants have an amnesty claim - some might. In the SA case, it was a clear case of government persecution. And he’s, an EO is a process.

Immigrants are welcome to pursue amnesty at a port of entry. In the cases of deportation orders, they either failed to make their case or didn’t meet the requirements to apply.

Laws matter.

Using the American flag to cover for authoritarian thug tactics? Shameful.

I find it fascinating the Democrats are all about law and order and principled due process when it comes to Kilargo Garcia and freaked out when his people "wrongly" deported him to El Salvador even though he had a standing deportation order. But when Trump is upholding the laws by deporting illegal migrants, they break out into riots and protests?

Democrats didn't freak out about Biden or Obama deporting people BECAUSE THEY DID IT UNDER THE CONSTRUCT OF OUR LAWS and at rates much higher than Trump did in his first term or now. Democrats are freaking out because people who are playing under the rules of our system, or worse, who are green card holders or natural born US citizens, are being rounded up extrajudiciously and sent off to foreign prisons. Wake up, the next person to be rounded up could be you.

There are a few things going on here. First, there is the "resistance." The left has vowed to protest pretty much anything Trump does because, well, Trump. Congressional Democrats have gone on record calling for protest and fighting.
Second, Obama's and Biden's numbers of deportation are primarily from the people they essentially turned away at the border. Trump's numbers aren't as high in this regard because the message has been sent that people will not be permitted to enter illegally. The people trying to enter illegally under Trump pales in comparison to those of Obama or Biden.
Third, Biden welcomed in millions of illegal aliens - intentionally. These are people who do not belong here. Among them are gang members, murderers, rapists, and human and drug traffickers. It is up to Trump to rid our country of these people. Biden, et al, knew they were here and took no action. One has to wonder why he allowed these people in to begin with, and then allowed them to stay to prey upon the American people.
And, your claim that he is rounding up natural born citizens and shipping them off is a blatant lie.

These are just a few of the illegal alien criminals that the resistance is fighting against in LA. Nice job, right, liberals?

BREAKING: Federal sources ID some of the criminal illegal alien targets ICE arrested in their LA operation yesterday & today, which sparked violent protests. They include multiple gang members, convicted sex offenders, violent gun offenders, & drug offenders. One has already been deported. They include:

Rolando Veneracion-Enriquez, a national of the Philippines who has prior convictions for sexual penetration with a foreign object, assault with intent to commit rape, and burglary, all in California.

ARMANDO ORDAZ, a Mexican national & known gang member with a convictions for sexual battery, receiving stolen property, and theft in Los Angeles.

VICTOR MENDOZA-AGUILAR, a previously deported Mexican national & known gang member with convictions for assault with a deadly weapon, and possessing drug paraphernalia.

DELFINO AGUILAR MARTINEZ, a Mexican national with a conviction for assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury in LA.

MORE:

Jesus Alan HERNANDEZ-Morales, a Mexican national & aggravated felon with prior conviction for conspiracy to transport an illegal alien. He was deported today.

Jose Gregorio MEDRANDA Ortiz, an Ecuadorean national with convictions for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 5 kilos of cocaine on a vessel in Florida.

Lionel SANCHEZ-Laguna, a Mexican national with convictions for firing a gun at an occupied dwelling in OC, battery on spouse, willful child cruelty in OC, DUI in OC, and assault with firearm in OC. He has had a deportation order since 2020.

OMFG.

Are THESE the people who the democrats demonstrating in LA want to keep in the USA ?

Seriously, dems?

No, we don't want to keep them in the country, but we don't need co-splaying military on the streets to get rid of them either. AND...this was a sweep. Its not like ICE KNEW these guys would be there when they went.

At this point MAGA just needs to stop with their laughable defenses of this administrations destruction of America and just say hey look we are cool with crime and corruption as long as the people doing it are white and pretend to be christian. Just say it MAGA -your vote already told us who you were just stand by it.

What do you propose as a solution? Exploitation of migrants isn't cool so that we get cheap stuff

Keep in mind there's 10 million illegals immigrants and 8 million unprocessed asylum claims and only 700 immigration judges.

Clearly the status quo is untenable, but rather than have a rational discussion you all seem to jump to calling names.

If the GOP hadn't, on multiple occasions over the last 30 years, killed immigration reform including more administrative judges, we wouldn't be here right now having this exchange.

The problem is that people never want to invest in the actually important stuff:

1. More employees at all levels to process immigration claims AND more personnel to man the southern border AND a very expensive wall that will help to keep out walk-ins. All at a pretty stupendous cost.

2. More employees at IRS. Studies have shown that additions to the IRS workforce generate multiple times more monies recovered than the additional cost of labor.

2 can fund 1. But do we do this? No, because the left doesn't want to hear about pushing out migrants, and the right doesn't want to hear about processing immigration claims quickly or recovering taxes from delinquents.

We've got to work together, people!
