And? Many times a writer takes something from their life and riffs it for hollywood. Also, imo it still would have been funnier by focusing on the family with Tova as the matriarch. The focus on the kristin bell storyline doesn’t carry the series well (and while I think kristin bell is a good actor, I don’t love her in this role).
The ratings disagree with you. Kristin is the main draw, not Tovah. I am a long-time fan of Tovah, btw, but the demographic audience tuned in for Kristin.
I thought we are sharing opinions on this thread … I shared mine and you keep telling me I’m wrong.
Regardless, won’t be the first or last time my opinions have not meshed with mainstream - I still haven’t watched any Real Housewives of XYZ show.

I have only watched one episode of the new season. No spoilers.
I actually like the dialogue on the show and I especially like all the B plots with the supporting characters. I think the weird dynamic between the brother, his wife, and Morgan is funny and all those actors are talented and playing off each other well. I also like D'Arcy Carden and enjoy her scenes.
But I find the stuff with leads kind of tired. His family is so loaded with Jewish tropes it is in fact borderline offensive. But more than that, their relationship doesn't make sense. It's not just that he's jewish and she's not. If that were it, there would not be a ton of conflict. It's that he's a RABBI. He has made his judaism pretty central in his life. He is a spiritual person. He wants to raise his kids jewish and the religious aspects of judaism (not just the cultural aspects) will always be an important part of his life.
In that context, it's either/or for her. She has to convert for them to be together. This is obvious. It's not a weird or unreasonable demand, it's just the realistic circumstances of his life that he needs to be with someone who shares his religion because he's a spiritual leader within that religion.
And her reluctance to convert makes no sense. Her argument is basically "I don't want to because you asked me to." Like if he'd never asked and she could spontaneously choose to, she might do it, but because he asked (because it's enormously important to him and a central part of his life) that's "too much pressure" and unfair. It's like negotiating with a child about whether or not they should clean their room. It's just nonsensical and silly. If you don't want to convert to judaism, that's totally fine, but then DON'T DATE A RABBI. Literally just date anyone else.
Anyway, I'm still watching but I'm deeply annoyed that this appears to still be a central issue on the show because it makes no sense.
