Harris is competent. Competence alone doesn't make one the best option for VP but there is no reasonable path for her to be replaced as Biden's 2024 running mate and therefore debating whether or not she is the best option is a waste of time. We are about to have two major party nominees that likely won't be able to sustain an acceptable level of mental fitness for this demanding job throughout the duration of the term they are seeking. This is the conundrum to be discussed at this time. When Trump announces his running mate, we can then compare the strengths and weaknesses of the two running mates which will be an important comparison considering the higher than ever before likelihood of a VP having to step in to replace the POTUS at some point during the four year term. Something tells me Harris will compare favorably to any person crazy enough to accept the Trump running mate position.

None of this matters. Harris was chosen by Biden to be his running mate and regardless of what the public or the rest of the party thought of her, she became next in line to the presidency when Biden was inaugurated. Biden was similarly unpopular when he was chosen as running mate by Obama in 2008. His run for president in 2008 ended after one state primary where he garnered 1% of the vote yet Obama thought he was the best choice as a running mate. Biden has evolved into a more likable person in a grandpa kind of way but he was no more likable than Harris back when he was in the prime of his political career. Being likable helps to get one elected but otherwise there are more important traits a good executive needs to have.

I think he's a hell of a good guy but it's ridiculous some people think of him as a perfect candidate. He is just as bad as Trump because he's really not in control or will not be given more years in office. It's a travesty to have him run. You people who think Trump sucks should then be confident anyone should be able to beat Trump. Anyone - other than Biden. If you all feel that Trump is such a danger then find a candidate who sane people can rally behind to vote for because let me tell you, as someone who despises Trump, I'm scared of Biden equally. I would imagine most anyone with any decency should be able to beat either of these nightmares. Any candidate with a real brain guts and competent political record. The big question is why can't the Dems find someone? I guarantee you that the US will be in crisis no matter what next few years if either one of these fools gets into office again. There is no way that the US comes out unscathed in either administration and I don't believe Biden's is assuredly going to be a better time for Americans. Not with Kamala as his VP! She makes me want to gag every time I see her face. That he chose her tells me everything I need to know about him. I have zero confidence in him for another 4 years.

Most people that are as old as Trump and Biden or have resided with family members in this age group don't need to imagine the additional challenges elderly people will have while performing a job as mentally and physically demanding as POTUS. While you're correct about the ridiculousness of pretending like these two can be trusted as fit to serve another term, I'm not equating the flaws and weaknesses of Trump and Biden. Trump has an additional layer of unfitness in his lack of integrity. I also don't understand the hate for Harris. Her performance or lack there of has been no more remarkably good or bad than any other VP in recent decades. It's a background position that has a way of making the position holder appear disinterested and aloof. There is very little substance to judge her tenure as VP on and therefore I don't understand where any strong approval or disapproval can come from.
