I doubt there is a single State that does not criminalize possession of firearms and/or ammunition by felons and other persons who would be prohibited under federal law; interstate firearm transfers; straw purchases and the like. This is the fundamental fraud of anti-firearm organizations. They cynically create the impression of an environment where firearms are a wholly unregulated free for all, when in fact there are multiple layers of duplicative federal and State regulation, covering many if not most or even all of the subjects they claim need still more regulation. Making criminal misconduct “more illegal-er” will not “help some.” It will not help at all, unless “help” is defined as moving the nation toward their goal of ultimately prohibiting private firearm ownership while ignoring the predations of criminals who already don’t obey the law, any law.
Sure it does. It give LEO more tools to fight gun trafficking.

“President Joe Biden signed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act last summer, making it a federal crime to traffic in firearms and stiffening penalties for “straw purchases” made on behalf of people who aren’t allowed to own guns.
Since then, new data from federal prosecutors shows they’ve charged 31 people in 17 cases under the new legislation.
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives spokeswoman Carolyn Collins called the laws “powerful new tools.”
Federal agents seized 23 firearms shown here from two suspects they say were illegally trafficking guns from Ohio to the Bronx in August 2022. The pair are charged with new gun trafficking law signed by President Biden.
The changes to the federal Gun Control Act “are designed to enhance ATF’s ability to identify, deter, and investigate those who illegally divert firearms from lawful commerce,”
Nothing about this “prohibits private firearm ownership”.![]()
I’m sure that the OP and other CCW holders support laws like the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. Right?

They like to take away the rights of law abiding citizens while giving more rights to criminals. On top of that they tax you more for the privilege. If democratic officials don’t enforce the law and do their jobs wrt public safety, what do you expect citizens to do? Allow criminals to keep teeing off on them? Law abiding citizens wouldn’t need CCW if democrats enforced the law, jailed criminals, and put the rights of law abiding citizens over thugs and miscreants in DC.

A good start and given the political leanings of the city what one would expect. Also a number that is higher than the number of sworn officers on the DC Police force.

NP... I've lived in DC for 15 years. Your comments are pure cringe. DC isn't Fallujah. I bet you've barely even stepped foot in DC![]()

If people take the time to learn about guns, and recognize that modern weapons can be safely handled, they don’t go boom on their own, then the emotional fear drains away.
That’s the power of education.
Guns are "bad" here in the US because they aren't well controlled. We have too many people getting guns who shouldn't have guns.
The problem is, every time people come up with schemes to “control” guns, it’s always about taking guns away from the people who aren’t criminals to begin with. It’s NEVER about removing guns from the people who are using them in crimes.
So to your point - the “solutions” that are always trotted out never address “controlling” the guns possessed by those people who shouldn’t have them. The answer is always taking guns away from the people who DO own them responsibly. Because THOSE people will comply with the law (up to a point….) and therefore the gun control law can be hailed as a success because the people who follow laws, followed the law. Well, duh…. But the criminals go on, undeterred by any law.
Lies. Common sense gun control doesn’t “take away guns” from anyone who shouldn’t have them.
Expanded mandatory universal background checks which includes any documented history of mental illness, domestic violence, anger management issues
A persistent database tracking every gun transaction
Stop sale of military-patterned weapons like AR-15s
Stop sale of extended capacity magazines
Red flag laws
And there are many many more very reasonable and common-sense gun control proposals
None of those infringe on 2A or propose "taking away all guns from responsible gun owners"
Even the most cursory glance at anti-firearm organization websites discloses their ultimate goal of ending private firearm ownership, with the current agenda focused on destroying the firearm industry (which will pose sort of a quandary for law enforcement since that’s who supplies their guns) by making them liable for the criminal misbehavior of others, perverting longstanding jurisprudence in the US.
Punishing decent people and businesses for the predations of criminal psychopaths isn’t common sense; it’s nonsense.

There's absolutely no rational reason why we shouldn't be pursuing them
