Where was I wrong?
A WJ parent took their kid to the police station and reported it as an assault.
Police will need to do an investigation to determine if it was an assault or a fight.
You will need to wait for facts.
A police report is not facts, it is a report written when people are interviewed. People can lie in the interview.
A police investigation is usually based on facts (though something they are wrong too).
Kid comes home beaten up and he told his parents, "I was assaulted", it might be the truth or he lied because he didn't want to admit he was in a fight (and lost).
They charged him with ROBBERY and assault. This was NOT a fight. He had on a ski mask. THIS WAS INTENTIONAL.
Are you dumb? Just shut up and admit you were talking out of your backside.

You remind me of my SIL who just loves to dig her heels in, even when she’s wrong.
She’s an idiot, too.
I wasn’t wrong I said wait for a police investigation.
You sound like my MIL when I say the sky is blue she says not it’s not it’s blue and then I say yea I said it was blue.
So you’re not the one who kept insisting it wasn’t assault, it was a fight, and that’s perfectly legal?
No I said we need to wait for an investigation to determine if it was assault which is a criminal offense or a fight which is legal.
So you’re not Loony McLoonypants. Sorry.
Where is he? The one who said that it was just a fight, sorry your kid lost, fighting is legal, there was no assault. Think he’ll come back?

Some credit to MCPS as well for working with police. No doubt MCPS would have stonewalled if the video hadn’t been made public, but they still deserve a little credit even though what they did was obviously the right thing to do.

Interesting question…
What happens with an adult convicted of an assault? Don’t some return to the work they were doing before the conviction?
Some people of course can and should not be able to because of serious ethical violations that relate to their profession. But many, many return. Look at sports, entertainment, politics etc.

You are really something else. The kids were already charged with assault! Including one as an adult. We KNOW what the police investigation found - that it was a crime. Now the judge/jury will decide on guilt or innocence.
That’s exactly what I said.
Now the lawyers will plea it down and they might get tried or it will be settled out of court.
No, that is not exactly what you said. You said “the police will decide.” The police have already done their part and decided it was a criminal assault.
I guess your next line of argument will be “but the jury could decide it was just a fight! we don’t know the facts!”
What I said on 9/05 the 1st post I posted was
Police will need to do an investigation to determine if it was an assault or a fight.
So no they had not done an investigation… all I said (and everybody freaked out) was you need to wait for the police investigation and not listen to hearsay … like the kid was from Suitland and the girl has an ankle bracelet.
I said let the police investigate .
Now the lawyers get involved and charges get plead down, go away and/or charges are changed from adult to juvenile… possibly.
If they are charging the kids with assault, they have done an investigation and decided it was…assault.
