Get off your snobby high horse. God some of you absolutely suck. Stop clutching your pearls and doubling down in your racist rhetoric because the teachers refuse to kowtow to you. Stop trying to discredit anyone who disagrees with you.
The only racist rhetoric here is that spread by those who insist that the requests for PJ to step aside we’re motivated by the color of their skin . I have seen or read absolutely nothing to indicate that this was the case. On the contrary, those jumping to PJ’s defense seem focused on little else other than his skin pigmentation, as if everything else should be completely ignored.
Please tell me this isnt fully thought thru. You're saying it's racist bc... The parents of ward 2 are the REAL victims here? OMG I don't know why I had higher opinions of DCUM posters. There really isn't any hope for your children.
The real victims are the DCPS students who suffer the consequences of attempts to weaponize identity politics and false accusations of racism to shield incompetent DCPS teachers and administrators.

I have no doubt you think you were doing it for the students. All you did was destabilize your kids school

NP. I am old enough to remember when people deflecting substantive arguments with false accusations of racism put in the effort. No, they didn't say W2 parents where the victims. They said people like you who falsely claim racism are in fact guilty of racism. They pointed out that the only defenses thus far are based on some unfounded accusation that he was fired for being black. They ignore that DCPS made their own findings and replaced him but you ignore that inconvenient fact and pretend like the parents fired him.
Racism is real. Black people are discriminated against every day in myriad ways. People like you make it harder to fight actual racism when you cry wolf in situations like this.

This all predated the 90 minute block class mess of course—which PJ inherited. Along with the terrible budget.
Exactly. But we are dealing with a system that choose politics over kids and took the easy way out and not say NO to the bullies of upper NW.
I find it interesting how at a school with 60% BIPOC students, people are assuming it’s only “rich white parents” who wanted the change. That has not been the experience at all in my DCPS - and it’s a frequent (and dare I say racist?) assumption that only white parents have opinions on school issues.
It is well known that small ground s of privileged parents often take over schools and do exactly what was done at Hardy. White parents are not the only one that have opinions however they are often times the only ones DCPS really listens to. I am sure the parents over at schools that are 99-100% Black want safe schools and have petitioned DCPS. Nothing is done. Their children are forced to go to schools where students are being shot, massive gang fights, high teacher vacancies, etc. When the parents write letter and protest nothing is done. Radio Silence.
Let's assume you are correct. Is the answer then that all schools should be unsafe? That's moronic. The answer is that all parental voices should be heard and considered, whether from predominantly white UMC schools or low SES predominantly black schools. Your mentality is part of the reason you cannot get traction. Your response here is to demonize the white parents who were successful instead of focusing on the power structure that ignores your concerns. In doing so you make it easier for the power structure to ignore you. But, by all means, continue to throw temper tantrums and get mad at other parents if you think that's going to solve your problems.
YEP. this is especially infuriating given that the leftist line on schools is that white parents must not “hoard opportunities” and that kids who are “furthest from opportunity” (ie W7 and 8) should get seats in the schools that are wealthier/whiter. Well, how exactly do you think those opportunities are created? By parents with the resources and skills to advocate for their schools. Yet when white parents are perceived here as advocating successfully, they become “racist” and “trying to take over.” You cannot have it both ways. The NW schools are strong in part because the parents force DCPS to keep them strong.
amazing that you parents are now taking credit for NW (I assume code for white) schools are "strong". I assume you're referring to test scores with this.
I don't care how many L4 and L5 PARCC scores you add to our schools, I don't need someone playing principal bc they think they've earned the privilege
Isn't having kids meet grade-level expectations (L4) the point of school? If that is not your chief concern, what are you doing there?
Lol!! If that were the point of school, then DC wouldn’t be in the situation where the majority of students don’t reach L4. For most people, school is just a place to stick your kids while you are at work all day. That’s it. Education is gravy.

There's not much challenge in keeping students on grade level when they arrive there on grade level. Parents often mistaken teacher (and admin) quality based on proficiency in testing. That's not at all what I consider the point of school
Agreed that tests themselves are not the point, but you seem unconcerned about the whole learning thing. Best I can tell, all you are concerned with is your autonomy.
