Are you so dense as to not see the difference between these news articles that contain no bragging, and the promotional/self-serving puffery that's in mailers/letters/emails from the school's advancement office?

My statement still stands. Many colleges brag about their ranking in internal and/or external communications.
Your exact words included "or maintain a top ranking" -- exactly which top ranked schools are doing it, if not HYPS?
You sound lazy, but I have a sliver of time to spare today. A quick (non-exhaustive) Google search yields the following results:
#1 (Princeton): https://paw.princeton.edu/article/princeton-no-1-us-news-college-rankings-2022
#2 (MIT): https://news.mit.edu/2022/mit-named-no-2-university-us-news-2022-23-0912
#6 (University of Chicago): https://news.uchicago.edu/college-and-university-rankings
#7 (Johns Hopkins University-tie): https://hub.jhu.edu/2022/09/12/us-news-college-rankings-2022/
#7 (UPenn-tie): https://almanac.upenn.edu/articles/us-news-world-report-2023-rankings

#10 (Duke): https://www.dukechronicle.com/article/2022/09/duke-university-ranking-us-news-and-world-report-national-ranking-top10-northwestern-best-college-university-america
Now what?!?
I see that you have no comment when the receipts are posted.![]()
Now wipe the spittle from your computer screen and accept the fact that *SOME* top colleges try to use these rankings to their advantage (even while pretending to hold their noses).
Your sleight of hand isn't fooling anyone. Where is the touting? All I'm seeing from these supposed "receipts" are vanilla news articles, not fundraising letters or promotional materials. Nice try though!
