A clean bill? Or did they just pretend to pass something that raises the debt if we ignore that it cuts veterans benefits or some irresponsible bill-killing stuff like that?

The GOP has no interest in maintaining regular order in our country.

Revenues are still coming in.
Debts will be paid, and spending priorities will have to be made over the rest.

Please. Go on. Explain exactly what spending priorities need to be cut to make up the forced shortfall. And the. Explain what happens to the economy.

Jesus Christ the nihilism. It’s too much.

A bunch of civil servants and contractors are told not to report to work

Hey, you wanted Biden's 1.1 trillion and 1.9 trillion spending debacles. Now eat it.

Do you know how much faster it will accumulate if we default and lose our bond rating?

Default is not on the table. The current brinksmanship is over not borrowing more money.

Have you ever not paid your bills? We are not talking about borrowing more money. This is about paying for things that have already been voted on. You know, through representative government. Some of these are projects in progress and real people are actually working on them and will not get paid and will not be able to buy things like groceries or pay the rent, bills, etc. This will snowball into the people they owe not being able to make their bills and on down the line. Stock market will fall and people will be laid off in industry. Investment will be killed. People will not be able to get healthcare. Is this what you want? How about you support representatives who work on the actual year to year budget to reduce it? Doesn't that seem more sane and logical to you?

I don't care. You've been deaf for decades now of stupid ridiculous spending. Your way or the highway.

Collapse it. It's time.

OR, Biden can negotiate. Negotiate or collapse it.

That isn't the cause here. Biden's bills had 'payfors" - this is the GOP tax cuts we have the bill due on.

Government brings in 4 trillion in taxes

Debt service is 600 million.

Plenty of money to pay its debt.

Talk about trashy low morals of government. I knew it was a corrupt and untrustworthy entity but this puts the spotlight on its complete sloth and sloppiness.

By “it” you mean the Republican Party?

Both parties are responsible for our sloppy, slovenly, trashy and insolvent government. Nobody is an adult.

One party has passed bills that have a funding mechanism, and it wasn't the republicans. What was their offset to pay for the tax cuts, either in 2001 or 2017?

I'll wait here for the answer.

4 trillion in current tax revenues is sufficient. Debt service is only 600 billion, easily paid for. Figure out how to balance the budget without destroying the currency.

4.9 trillion in revenues.

That would be illegal. There’s no legal authority to cut off granny’s social security while paying bond holders. And there won’t be enough cash anyway. The fed revenues don’t come in evenly. They come in big chunks at each quarter. They just got one and are now spending it all down. It will be gone in early June.

This has been explained so many times that I’m thinking you just don’t want to understand.

If you want to preserve US credit rating pay bond holders. If you want preserve US cities pay granny. If you want to preserve the grifters lift the debt ceiling. Bottomline, a choice will be made and the consequences will be served to each and every one of us.

But it’s not “you” making the decision. Congress already decided to choose both. It can make a different choice for the future. What they’re trying to do now is simply stiff people now that the bill is due.

Also, recall, Republicans insisted vehemently at the State of the Union that cutting granny’s benefits was not a thought they would ever entertain. So that’s off the table.

All of the government’s obligations have to be paid. Congress can’t just agree to obligations and then say “don’t write the check.”

Might as well do it now. Ain't gonna get better waiting for congress to fix anything. Bunch of grifters.
