Good to hear. Where is the boundary between 3C and 3A? Can anyone link to the final map?

Keep asking. They cannot provide it.

It is the same map that was posted last week except woodland-normanstone is moved to 3C

Posted where?

With all the stuff about "underrepresented" apartment dwellers and SFH "NIMBYs" it should be noted that the one change to her Task Force's map that Mary Cheh consistently championed was to cater to the concerns of her constituents who live in some of the most expensive real estate ($10M homes) in the District.

Keeping Woodland Normanstone whole in Woodley Park ANC.

There are like 50 people that actually live there. It doesn't affect that many people so I'm not going to get up in arms about it. And since so few people live there it is easy to move them in and out of SMDs without throwing off population numbers.

I’m fairly pissed off about that one. It’s just stupid. Like revenge of the nerds…. No rhyme or reason

Those are not the officially approved maps. Where’s a link to the DC government source?

This is from Bob Ward's blog and from previous posts on this board it seems like he alone draws the maps.

He seems a lot more reasonable and knowledgeable about things compared to the weird people who keep shouting during meetings. But you can also download the maps yourself. Many others have done so. Now most of the NIMBYs are functionally computer illiterate, so it admittedly is difficult for them.

The source describes the new maps in words, literally using the street boundaries: https://lims.dccouncil.us/downloads/LIMS/48953/Meeting3/Amendment/B24-0700-Amendment1.pdf

The redistricting website: https://dcredistricting.esriemcs.com/redistricting/

I don’t have a dog in this fight. But the fact remains that the Amendment that passed, which you helpfully provided a link to, does not include a map. There are still are no official DC government maps reflecting the Amendment days later.

Why cannot Silverman, the chair of the committee, produce the maps for the public? I think that’s a minimum ask for a redistricting process is for ent government to produce and publicly disclose the maps.

Go ask her. You might find her sitting at Nanny's on Conn. Ave.

So ironic that you reference “stop the steal” when the task force member who pushed the neighborhood split (and is part of the Smart Growth lobby) is so connected to Trumpworld, the national GOP and even Russian meddling in Ukrainian politics. And it’s worth noting that CP Smart Growth has been exposed as a non-transparent, astroturf group formed by a political consultant. It’s basically the same handful of people retweeting each other’s posts in an echo chamber and meeting over beer and wings at Nanny O'Briens. They have had some political success, to be sure. When one works with Manafort and the guy who did the Willie Horton ad, you learn to play an aggressive game.

The wings at Nanny's are good, so I'll give them credit for that. But if it is such a small echo chamber, why are they winning? If most people don't agree with them, it would seem no amount of retweeting each others tweets would be very effective. "Astroturf" implies there is no grassroots support, which I think has been disproven in a pretty compelling way given the engagement we've seen for things like the Macklin, the last ANC election, Connecticut Ave lane study, support for more CT Av density. There are actually a lot of residents that agree with them. And I think this continued succession of defeats is contributing to this truly bizarre level of person attacks that have nothing to do with redistricting or any of these other issues. What I don't see is the next generation of residents that will wage the battles to preserve the status quo, so maybe we are nearing the end of an error.

+1

The people coming up WANT bike facilities, WANT walkable neighborhoods, WANT affordable housing WANT diversity, WANT a car free or car light means of living. There simply aren't more entitled boomers who want the 1950's ideals anymore.

Good riddance.

I’ll bite. Since you deleted those previous posts: happy for you to densify Wisconsin and Connecticut and support bike paths etc, and frankly it will add up to gentrification. You can’t do anything about SFHs because we are protected. So we get the best of the both worlds. The only issue is that with redistricting and being called NIMBYs we have no incentive to engage with you and will let you get at each other for little gains. Meanwhile our houses will just go up and there’s maybe 2 “grey hairs” on my entire leafy street. Children are moving in and many of us younger people made money and bought. So you ignore us at your own peril

LOL - Cleveland Park might be gentrified! I was going to say it is hard to believe someone dumb as a rock can afford to buy in Cleveland Park but then I remembered that most lawyers are dumb as rocks.

How is it dumb to let you do exactly what we want you to do while you think you’re sticking it to the so-called nimbys (most of whom are lovely liberal people)?

Why are "they" winning? Smart Growth signed up an experienced operative who forms advocacy group, poll tests and crafts messaging for private interests. This is what his firm does for a living. He's very effective at what he does, and engages resources to create and push content across social media channels. Ward and his opaque group organize and provide material support to candidates, something that nonprofit community-based orgs are prohibited from doing. He's essentially the campaign manager and spokesperson for Beau Finley right now and has recruited and backed ANC candidates and commissioners who will push the Smart Growth agenda. He got himself and two associates appointed to the redistricting task force where they pushed for a "radical" redistricting (Chairman Mendelson's conclusion) of the local ANC, departing from Council guidelines and norms. This is not unlike the aggressive moves that other GOP operatives are making across the country to disregard rules and brazenly gerrymander electoral districts to enhance the chance of winning in the next elections. It is disturbing that Cheh would hand over the redistricting pen to a Republican operative so connected to the Trump campaign and some of of more notorious national GOP political practitioners, not to mention who just four years ago was working with someone under felony indictment and Russian state interests to interfere with democracy in Ukraine. Yes, it's true that community residents have been playing a game of stickball compared to a major league Trumpworld pollster and operative.

BS. Bob Ward didn't come to Ward 3 Vision until a few years ago. The group came togeher in the 2000's in response to all of the NIMBY fights over Martens, Babes, GDS, 5220 Wisconsin Ave and the Wisconsin Avenue Giant. All volunteers, no money, just passion for better urban planning, better transportation options and more affordable housing. Over the ensuing 15 years, we have seen a sea change in the politics at the ANC, Council and Mayor level. That isn't some right wing conspiracy, that is good liberal policies that the Biden Administration has fully embraced.

Maybe ask yourself why you are opposing development fights and bike lanes that are 100% part of the Biden agenda?

Priced out. There aren't many single-family homes left to buy and most of the voting population now lives in condos or apartments on Wisconsin/CT ave. There are no 'young' NIMBYs left in CP.

I disagree. There’s a whole bunch that bought houses over the past few years. It’s just that these battles seem a net loss. Mostly we hope our NIMBY ism flies under the radar. Stick your neck out, next thing you know one of you blocks my addition

The census data show the rapid graying of most of the single family detached blocks in CP. Sure there are a few younger folks, but there are fewer and fewer of them. Honestly, if I was a young NIMBY I would never buy in CP, McLean, CCMD and Potomac have much better options. I mean you are living between two dense corridors (Wisconsin/CT Ave) that only only adding thousands of more apartments over the next few years. You are going to lose and lose badly. Hell even Crestwood or CCDC is better.

What are we going to loose exactly? I can’t even see, let alone hear any of the building or traffic from my place. So out of sight out of mind while ANCers tear each other for scraps. I’ll vote when there’s a highly educated, wealthy landowner of a detached house who shares my interests. Meanwhile I’ll ignore. Changed nothing last 20 years, and nothing the next. If it does I’ll cash out and make out like a bandit and move somewhere with an actual quality of life like Palm Beach
