Kevin's "family" is mainly in California. His sister (Kate) plus her two kids, Kevin's own two kids, and his mother and Miguel -- ALL live in CA. Moving to PA would mean losing all of that family in exchange for Nicky and Randall.

Agree, plus Randall in Philly is FAR from the cabin. Like six hour drive far.

Some of the episodes are long and the connections of past and future could have been made in a shorter time frame. It’s almost like they are just trying to fill in episodes to give a full season.

I actually don't think Randall had more issues growing up than the other two. He had many unanswered questions about his origin and kept looking for roots (stopping Black couples in the grocery store to see if they could roll their tongues), but I think he was better adjusted mostly because once he went to the gifted school, he had a real anchor. On top of that, he was especially close to Rebecca and could confide in her. I think Kevin had one dream (football) that shattered, and then Jack died. He always felt shuffled aside by his parents. Kate was overshadowed by both brothers and her path after Jack's death was unfocused. I think Randall is also simply more thoughtful - like his mother - and made deliberate choices to connect to Beth and work at it. I don't think we saw the fallout for Randall once Jack died because he stepped up to take care of Rebecca. I doubt we have time for that the remainder of this season, but maybe his loss of his Dad was what compelled him to seek out William.

But he’s building the new cabin for his mom. They address that in one of the episodes, it was subtle but was said. Wondering who all lives there in the final episode.

Anyway, to me would make sense that he wouldn’t invest in a house in California if he knows he’s going to move to the new cabin. Maybe he was hoping Madison the Twins would love it there too.

Rentals are an option. How is he going to share custody of the babies if he doesn't have a place for them to sleep? And why would he move to PA cabin knowing that Madison has a house in CA.

He either needs tostay in CA with his kids, or he is going to have to win over Madison, get rid of her boyfriend, and then move the whole family to PA. Seems like Kevin can't be with Sophie and with his kids. They are geographically exclusive.....

UNLESS Madison decides she isn't mentally up gor taking care of the kids, and gives primary custody to Kevin. Right now that seems unlikely because she seems to be doing well as a mom. If that continues, then K can't be with Sophie and still be with his kids in LA.

DP. Matthew McConaughey was already a bankable star, well able to afford expensive accommodations, when he lived in Airstream trailer for four years. Not some gigantic, super-luxe trailer, either.

So Kevin living in the places he's lived doesn't seem particularly odd to me. Though he'll need room for the kids....
