Villanova SOB is tough admit, and even harder to transfer when there. Big yawn on this school. Take themselves way too seriously. DS got the vibe that this is the actual school where fun goes to die. The new upperclass dorm is gorgeous. DS took it off his list.
Providence is a big nooooooo. Immediate surrounding area is a dump. Providence is a cool little city though. Read Reddit Providence College for real reviews, then hop over to Niche. Like BC, business school is heavy white finance bros. Not a diverse school. There's always a twinge of New England arrogance. Lehigh same with big fat Greek life. Just being honest on our end.
Just out of curiosity, what are some schools that you like?
Pp again. Just sent a text to DS who stressed applying direct admit to biz schools. Hard to transfer into competitive biz schools in sophomore year. First three were his top choices in order of the love he had for their business schools with specific concentrations. He only wanted urban mid-size:
Northeastern - He had/still has a paid internship turned co-op since sophomore year HS. Was stoked for co-op, but felt he could make better use of that extra year on his own. Wasn't feeling the 5 year slog unless for an MBA. Wants to study abroad instead. Plus, Boston was his home city for 5 years.
GWU - No credit to Dcum, we felt your hate for GW lol. He stood out from the usual wanna be on-the-hill suspects. He researched biz school hard, fell in love with location, and the students he got to know. Also loves politics as a pastime, not a career.
Fordham University - Bachelor of Science Gabelli School of Business. Strong alumni, network, gender imbalance to his advantage, beautiful contained campus, easy to city. Arthur Ave is their college town. NYU, Pace, Suny Maritime, CUNY students hang out with Fordham students. Mixed but leans liberal
Hofstra - Crazy I know, but there's a few reasons why. One being the Zarb School of Business, which is excellent.
Stevens Institute of Technology - phenomenal Bachelor of Science Business & Technology degree. Hoboken is amazing, campus is gorgeous. Serious gender imbalance with incel reputation. This really bothered him. He's extroverted, likes/ respects girls a lot, and didn't want to be associated with that reputation, regardless if it's unfounded. Beautiful new University Center and housing is state of the art. Beats most colleges out there for sure.
Babson - Wellesley and too small. All biz, all the time. Ranked #1 Entrepreneurship
BC - Carroll School of Management - not his people
BU - Not a contained campus. Grade deflation is very real! Questrom School of Business is excellent.
UMass Amherst - Outlier in terms of size and location, but he loved the business school & campus dining is outstanding. Quietly relieved he chose private. K-12 public funds private college. My only requirement.
Pace - Offered him, and many students, the world. He couldn't get past it's ranking, but also wanted a campus.
Providence - Providence is a great little city. Contained campus surrounded by nothing. Alcohol is a pastime. He liked that it's equidistant NY/Boston. Conservative bro vibe.
Villanova - Felt nothing, nada, zippo, indifferent. Has a couple of 2020 friends there, and they love it. Well respected business school.
OP, your son has the stats for these schools. He still has the option not to send test score. Cross that bridge when he has scores. Pick and choose which schools to send them to based on college's average test score.
You need a hobby.

No, UVA isn't that big on SAT. Also, W&M has a great business school too. Both though you have to apply once you're in the school and there's no guarantee.
False. the 75th percentile of attending students last fall had a 1490 or better, so if your are unhooked, you had better be aiming above that.
You don't have to aim above the 75th percentile if you're unhooked--just above the median. Sure there's no guarantee, but you have got a good shot. Look at your own HS Naviance.

This is not true. My kid from a middle of the road FCPS school with no hooks got in with a 4.4 GPA and a 1440 SAT (he was all about the 4's ...)

BC will be a stretch w/a 4.4wGPA and anything less than stratospheric test scores unless you have a hook. Naviance ruled it out for my HS senior who has 4.5sGPA. Applying ED may help - BC has only had ED for a couple of years but its own press suggests around 40% of the freshman class is filled in ED.

No, UVA isn't that big on SAT. Also, W&M has a great business school too. Both though you have to apply once you're in the school and there's no guarantee.

Avoiding the South, NE flagships are generally mid size plus and may work. Lehigh and Case Western, but student will likely need a SAT approaching 1500.

I would visit Providence College. I am from New England and I always thought of it as a working class version of BC or Holy Cross. No New England snobbery there.
