It's not about being cheap, but let's face it, when you go away for more than your assigned vacation days from work even your employer cannot give your paid days. Your have to start taking unpaid days off.

Agreed, they are the ones taking such great care of your kid, but if we start giving them perks like working in a corporate environment, hey- why is your nanny not in a corporate world, or why don't we stay home and take care of our babies?
Unfortunately, the expectations and standards are set so high to begin with and they get to reap the benefits of that.

We pay two weeks vacation, almost all the fed holidays and most if not all of week between Christmas and New Years. Unless they choose/we don’t require their vacation days same as ours of course they can work.
MB here. That is pretty minimal, if you must know, pp. There are many nannies that get twice the time off you are providing.
DP but if I could live without childcare for that many weeks per year, I wouldn’t need a nanny.
There are lots of wealthy families who hire nannies and give them weeks/months off.
